I think it makes people a bit lazy and it hurts the eyes also. It does not make people dumb in anyway, i mean that my point of view. I dont now any bad effects of sitting in front of computer. I sit around 12 hours in front of the computer, it just affected my eyes, my number for the glasses is increased and made me a bit lazy.

I think so.Yes you can use internet for learning but lots of people play video games and i think it makes people lazy and make their brain work slow.Because brain have to do exercises. If you play everyday lots of videogames by looking at screen for 12 hours i think it will effect brain.

Hello dear burki1994, sitting a lot time before a computer has two types of consequences. One physical and another psychological. Sitting at the same place for longer time at a stretch causes pain in the nech, knees and waist. Typing for a long pains the shoulder joints. And staring at the computer screen for a long time generally reduces our blinking intervals which fails to lubricant our eyes and causes irritation in eyes. It is more in case of color CRT monitors.
While on the mental side, too much attraction towards computer makes one isolated from others and especially kids pass time with it more. They failed to interact with others and try to avoid people, ultimately. That may be problematic.
Spending a reasonale time with a computer, rather, makes one more intelligent, knowledgeable and smart.
Happy mylotting

Hmm there's no reason it could be any more dangerous than sitting in front of the TV all day...which can be pertty bad heh.
Then it comes into what you're actually doing. If you're just playing online games for 10 hours a day, you'll probably get a little dumb, I suppose. Not for sure on that one though
But if you do more research, or even chatting on forums like these, you're more likely to actually learn something from it.
Regardless of what you're doing, don't spend more than an hour at the computer at a time...take a 5 minutes break at least
