I've heard of these "Designer" type fruits, they're raised in this way so that they'll stack more easily! I understand as they take more work to grow,in the shops they're way more expensive to buy than conventionally grown produce...I wouldn't eat so much watermelon that I'd be concerned about how well several of them would stack on the shelf,so I think a conventional rounded one would do for my needs,I'd just have to take the risk that it wouldn't roll away!

My feeling is that it is probably a regular watermelon that has been forced to grow into that shape. I have not tried it, I'm not particularly interesting in trying it, but my guess is that it tastes like a normal watermelon.

I haven't seen the square watermelons here in the US where I live. i have seen them on the internet. I don't think they would taste any different then the round ones. They are probably allowed to grow in square containers to get the square size. it is an interesting concept. I just might try to raise some my self this summer.

Wow I have never heard of square watermelon. Watermelon is actually my favourite fruit, therefore as long as it tastes like the normal round watermelons I'm sure I would like them. Do you have any pictures of the square variety, never seen one, would be interesting to check it out

I have not seen any square water melons before, much more trying them.. hehe ^_^ BUt i guess their taste should be the same right?? BY the way, how to do get a square water melon?? even if they grow in a box, it has got to be a small box because water melon is round by nature.. haha =D I wonder when will there be a triangle or octagan water melon too?? lol =D Also, water melons with other designs and colors as well.. lol =D

Lol, I didn't know that really existed. I saw your explanation above as to how it's done. Thus far I have only seen it in some sci-fie movie or shows like that. Of course there they are genetically altered and grow like that. It's not impossible and probably tastes the same. I guess it's easier to pile them up and transport them. Things people do!

No I have never tried a square watermelon. But I have tried a yellow seedless watermelon and it was very good.
