No sound

Hi guys...I recently went from a dial-up connection to a satellite connection and I'm using a wireless connection from my laptop to my modem.
Lately, I notice that I have no sound. If I reboot my computer it's there but it is soon gone and I haven't been able to figure out what I'm doing to lose my sound.
Are there any gurus out there who can point me in the right direction please?

Maybe your sound card driver was a little bit corrupted. You need to reinstall the driver of your sound card. Your audio must be signed to the sound card installed to your laptop. Yes, you may check it to the Device Manager. Or if you still have the CD driver/installer of your sound card, then just install it again.

Maybe your soundcard is slightly defective. You should try to swap other soundcard and it should be fine. But better to ask somebody who knows PC troubleshooting for swapping the soundcard. Or maybe your sound card just a little bit dusty and need some cleaning. Remove it, brush it, then insert again. Again seeks PC technician for that. Well, all of these are just my opinions. I hope we can get your audio back to normal.

LOL Sorry i can not help but laugh. Not at you but at the responses. You see I have had the same problem and Im not sure if people don't listen or what. I know they are trying to help but if you have sound when you first turn it on then it goes away, how could it be your settings or your sound card. People try to tell me that all the time. The only thing i could do was to reformat my hardrive and that seemed to make my sound stay on. I have a Toshiba laptop satellite. It works now just fine. The only problem with reformatin is you have to save everything you have onto either a memory stick, an external hardrive or a cd. if you have anything important saved and you want to reformat I suggest you save or back it up first.

I used to reformat Windows 98 all the time. I was having a problem with something else recently and I spoke to a technician and he advised against reformatting windows XP unless it was absolutely necessary. He said XP was set up a lot better than Win98.
As for the other, I usually laugh but when it's me it's a bit frustrating. It's working now and I'm carefully checking as I do my normal daily computer chores so I can see which site it is that I visit that turns it off.

You might need to adjust your computers sound settings, and make sure you haven't accidentally put a tick in the mute box.

Well, first you have to check if your sound card is working. You can do this by going to control panel -- System -- Hardware tab -- Device Manager. Check if the 'Sound, video and game controllers' has an exclamation mark. If it does, you might need to reinstall the 'device driver' for your sound card. To install a 'device driver' you have to know the exact type of your laptop's sound card. If you know nothing about computer hardware, I suggest you consult with some one who does.

I don't know Tickle what would cause this. Are you accidentally hitting the speaker button on your laptop?? I do that sometimes. And there are a lot of times I just keep the sound turned off.

Hi Ms Tickle...Good for you, i had my feel of dialup....I would suggest that you get in touch with your satilite provider and ask them, i am sure it is probably something very minor that was over looked at the time they installed it.....I wish i could help but i am a "green Horn"....

Well I would turn the computer and reboot again. I seem to have this problem once in awhile with my computer as well. If I leave it off for awhile and I turn it back on it usually solves the problem, if not I would check your speakers on the computer and make sure they did not get turned off on accident. I hope this helps you in someway, happy mylotting and good luck.
