Guy, what can you say about the news that there will be additional 1 year in college starting next school year? Please be open minded.

Thats not what the education sytem in the philippines need.I pity the high school students graduating next year.I think that the problem is in the elementary and high school levels. They should improve the quality of education early on.I guess less students will be choosing engineering then and other soon to be 5 year courses.

I think it would be both an advantage and a disadvantage. An additional year would definitely put in more time for students to learn more about their trade but at the same time would also mean more tuition money and the likes.

Hmm... Okay, this is what I think, if there is an additional year, what subjects are they going to put in each course? Even though we have the shortest education thing in high school and college, I don't think now is the right time to put that rule. Sure it is good because it would give us a more experience in other lessons or subjects that we should learn. Well, for me, I am thinking about my parents because they are the ones who are paying for my tuition fee. And adding another year in College is like telling the parents that they should never sleep and just work just to let their children finish education. Have they not thought about our economy now. Many people don't have jobs, some can't even support their family because of low paying jobs and that many of them go illegal to migration just to get better jobs outside Philippines. If they are going to add up one year, then at least let us have an education that money is really worth it. Because not all Colleges nowadays give good education, students don't attend their classes for no good reason. And I have been wondering about the working students, they would also be affected and that they will have a hard time because their jobs are not permanent and it is hard to find jobs just to pay your tuition fee. For me, there are a lot of advantages and disadvantages of this. However, right now, I don't think it is wise to add another year when they also plan to increase the tuition fee.

when i heard about it, i really was enraged! i was like "what were they thinking?!" sure they want to improve the quality of education here in the philippines but will it really help? college expenses take much from a family. i cannot help but pity students and parents.. instead of already working, you would still have to finish one more year. sure you can work, but not the work you planned after graduating from a four year course.
