How stupid do companies think we are with their ads?

I ask this because I have listened and watched many commercials in my day, as have most of you, but at least two commercials, one specific and one a whole slew of them, have been bugging me. The first one is the one for Burger King, where they are touting their new soft-serve ice cream cones, and how ice cream men are going out of business because of it. Here's my rebuttal to that; first of all, their arch-rival, McDonalds, has been serving soft-serve ice cream for, well, at LEAST 30 years. Probably longer. Secondly, can anybody name me even ONE ice cream man they ever knew who served soft-serve? Thirdly, for as long as there are kids and hot summers, there will ALWAYS be ice cream men. Anybody remember the scene from Full House where Michelle was trying to get her money together for the ice cream man, but missed him. However, DJ exclaimed that she found fudgesicles in the freezer, and Michelle says, sadly, "But it's not the same." Then either Joey or Jesse (don't remember which one) comes in asking about the ice cream man, and was given the same spiel, to which he said, almost in the same sad tone, "But it's not the same." I think I looked at my mother, and she looked at me and said, "You know, it really isn't the same." And it really isn't. There's just something about hearing those bells or music, losing your mind, getting money from your parents, and running out there that just says they'll be around until the end of time. The second thing is car ads who say they'll "pay off your old vehicle, NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU OWE!" Anybody ever listen to the disclaimer at the end? They will ALL say exactly the smae thing; "negative equity applied to new loan balance" Um, hello! ANY dealer will do that. Why do they think we're that dumb? When they flat out say you will have a zero balance when you buy the new car, THEN I'll go in. Until then, they need to just quit it. I know the first one is humor, but still. It's worth discussing stupidity in ads.
