internet sharing for dial up?

is it possible to share internet in two computer using dial up without using a hub or a router?
is there any configuration to be make?

I think it would be easier just to have a modem inside each PC and a two way splitter on your telephone outlet. Better then to have a different ISP for each computer or the speed would almost drop to zero. haha
If you have an external modem then just plug it in to one of the PC's when you need it.
Dial up is slow enough on one PC so I wouldn't bother to try to run two computers off it at the same time.
