Success is an eternal topic that is much concerned and be defined in thousands of ways. Here I'm not saying the material persue, the quest for money, but the mind peace. God grant me the serenity to accept the things i can not change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoy one moment at a time, accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking as he did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that he would make all this right. If i surrender to his will, that i may be reasonablly happy in this life. The secret of happiness is learning to accept. That's another kind of success.

I think different people measure success in different ways. To my way of thinking, success is not 100% tied to financial success. (Financial success is a measure all by itself.) Life success (to me anyways) is when you feel good about yourself, have good friends, live within your means, and be happy despite what life throws at you. Too often the term 'success' is said to only mean money. I don't think that is right because there are so many other areas in life, that to define success only in monetary terms is to un-validate all the other areas one is successful in. I like your reference to the serenety prayer (God grant me the serenity). I have a plaque on my wall with that on it so I can read it every day! God may have given my family incredible hardships over the years, but I still consider it a success to have lived through them, and to have learned from them.

I think success means to have self-esteem. To learn and to love ourselves. No matter how beautiful a person is, how rich a person is, how talented a person is, or how many children a person has, he/she will still be miserable without self esteem. They will always envy others, and feel unworthy of whatever they have. Some folks are fearful of loneliness, even when they are in a big family, working in a big company, and always want assurance from someone else. That's really a miserable way to live.

I define success in very narrow goals. I set very limited goals and measure success against that. I do not know about big successes but small ones make me happy and small failures are easier to manage and correct. Cheers!!
