Do you spank your children? Did your parents spank you also?

In our country, spanking is allowed. Most of the parents spank their children if they made something wrong. I've been spanked a lot of times and I promised to myself that I will not do it to my children. I think its not proper I grew up with hatred to my mother. Spanking is not the best way to discipline a child. In my opinion, there are many ways to discipline a child other than spanking. How do you discipline your child without hurting him physically?

I do not believe in spanking at all. Neither did my parent. I cam say that I can count on one hand the number of times i was spanked when i was growing up. The only time I was ever spanked was if i was doing something that could seriously hurt me. I am the same way with my son. I will not put a hand on him unless he could get seriously hurt. And I would in no means call it a spanking. I would never hurt him. I may tap him on the butt or the hand if needed but that never happens. It's so much easier to just sit down and talk with him. People only spank their kids out of anger.

i seldomly spank my kids. i was when i was little but not as much as my brothers were. i see spanking as the last resort. but with my kids there isnt much discipline i can give. nothing seems to work with them (they are my step children)
but one day one day they will grow up and stop it all
