Most of us like music. Some like to play music and some like to listen to. But I have observed some places where the music is kept on even during the working hours. They say that light music keeps the employees fresh and so there is no harm in playing music. Do you keep the music on while you are working? Which type of music?

In India there is a ban on playing music after 10PM but it is for a very loud music. If people are playing light music, nobody takes any objection. But the problem is that in parties normally the Disco and Rock music is played so that people can dance on it. This creats noise polution and so people do not like it.
I found it surprising that you can study only while playing music. Generally for studying you need silence so people go to library for reading.

Hi deserve,
You are right; I also observed the same and also read that playing music will helps the employees in a positive way. Sometimes I listen music while working but I like to listen music in regional language (I also like other language music but my first preference goes to my mother tongue songs) so it may disturb others. So I pay music when the other people are not around with me. I am listening music through radio in net.

Well I would suggest you to try light instumental music. I think that it is very good refresher.
Thanks for the response.

Hello deserve40. Yes, I keep the music on. I usually do this when I do the chores. It helps me do it faster and without stress because of the music Im listening to. I usually enjoy listening to fast music when I do the chores.

That is interesting thing. If we are doing any physical work, then fast music is very good. We enjoy the music and enjoy working with music too.
However, if we have to do some mental work like sending some mails, reading something then light music is useful.
Thanks for sharing, have a nice time.

I couldn't agree with you more on how music keeps us motivated and we perform better when wehave some light music playing in the backgroun while we work. Since I work from home I have no restriction on playing music while I work and my music goes on when the computer does. I couldn't work without it.

You're not wrong - having light music on during work does help keep the energy in the workplace going. Though what kind of music you should put on does depend on where you work, really. You wouldn't find an upper-class bar in Manhattan playing Good Charlotte, would you?
For your run-of-the-mill office, light instrumentals work very well. Apparently, having songs with lyrics can sometimes distract you a fair deal. Same goes with studying; which is why my iPod only plays Art Tatum when I do revision. No lyrics to distract my brain from the many physics formulae to learn!
That said, however, this US health association recommended that people perform CPR to the Bee Gee's "Staying Alive" because it apparently has the right BPM to apply compressions too. Compressions should be applied at 120 bpm and Staying Alive is about 117 bpm speed-wise. xD Gives a whole new meaning to this discussion, really...:P

Unfortunately in the company that I'm working, the President doesn't want music in the working area so as much as I love listening to music while working or doing something even now that I'm doing mylot, I just have to make a little sacrifice for my job.
