Bagua consists of eight diagrams used in Taoist cosmology to represented a range of interrelated notion. Each consists of three lines, representing YIN, YANG, which means negative and positive, female, male, dark and bright.
Ancient fortune tellers use it to predict nearly everything from trivials to nation event. In a word, it emphasises that the world is changing by two main forces called YIN and YANG (in pinyin), that everything, every being is related to one another.
It's a complicated subject which demands people to learn for decades.

I've always been interested in things like that, although I must confess I have never actually studied it (I have read quite a few writings about it though) I'm familiar with yin/yang. The Ba gua that you speak of...is that the same principle (and word) as bagua in the study of feng shui? I have done lots of reading on feng shui, and I do have the room I use most set up according to a feng shui chart. I find these things fascinating, and because they are old principles. They would not have stood the test of time if there wasn't something real to them. Just curious :-) Thanks!
