Tonight when I watch a cuisine program from TV and I learned this. I don't know whether it is based on the science. It warns some ladies not to avoid the sweet foods to lose weights. As it will make you feel depressed. I think that eating sweet food will make your feel happy. The simple example is chocolate, you will be happy to eat it.

I think it's psychological? Eating sweets doesn't make me either happy or sad. It's just like for someone who has a habit of peeling / biting their nails when they are nervous, which they feel more relaxed after doing it? I guess if I'm not the peeling nail type, peeling or not peeling doesn't affect me at all?

I don't know. There are some people who are so obsessed with losing weight that if they do eat chocolate or something else they deem fattening, they get depressed.I feel I am the opposite. When I am happy , I want something sweet. When I am upset, I can't eat.But then again I have never been on a diet. I am lucky to have enough money to eat what I like when I like.

i think that chocolate can male you feel a little happy when you are depress. though it does not work for me all the time. when i feel lonely or depressed i am not much of a sweet food eater. or sometimes it depends on my mood. i can eat chips, or i like eating popcorn in some other time when i feel down. or sometimes a good cup of coffee makes me feel ok.

I think its there is an ingredient in chocolates that makes a person feel better, but I don't think that all sweet foods work that way. That is why I always prefer chocolate food to sugary food or chocolate bars versus candies.

Hi youless! It is a popular belief and I am not really sure if it is backed scientifically that chocolates can really make one happy. I have searched the net and found this information: "For the reason that chocolates are full of carbohydrates, these increase the level of tryptophan in the brain. Such chemical produces more serotonin. The latter results into regulating one’s mood and often creates a jolly and positive feeling." I got it from this link: http://www.lifeinfozone.com/foods-beverages/what-are-the-emotional-effects-of-making-chocolates/ I guess, I will store some chocolates in the fridge in case of emergency (when somebody get depressed)! lol Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith

Hi youless! Well, anything sweet will make us HAPPY and not just happy but alive and kicking! Because those glucose are converted to energy that's why we are always awake and alive all the time. Well, it's true that chocolates can make those women fat, when those girls had a fast metabolism. But like, a skinny girl I always eat chocolates but nothings happen.

Eating chocolate causes the brain to release serotonin, a neurotransmitter that controls mood. This release of serotonin can cause a slight elevation in mood. Eating sweet foods or sugar, on the other hand, is different. Sugar causes what people commonly refer to as a "sugar high", which can cause people to temporarily feel happy or full of energy. This quickly wears off, however, and results in the also well-known "sugar crash"...which has the opposite effect.

Lately the scientists found that the milk food won't make you fat. I think suitable sweet food won't make you gain weights.

Not necessarily but I do want to have some sweet food when I feel a bit upset, a cake or something would make me feel temporarily better when I am upset about something. But on a usual day, sweet food doesn't change my mood that much!

It can or will make me happy but not healthy. To much sweets will raise my sugar level and might trigger me to have diabetes and that's a lifetime illness. It's ok to eat sweet but everyone should put up some limitations coz it can give us a fatal disease when we grow old..

I think eating chocolate will make you happy or maybe cake or known treats..but not everything that is sweet will make you happy. It might actually increase carbs, but it's not known that you have to stay away from chocolate when losing weight...
