I've always wanted to build my own doll house! I've tried for years. I've used egg cartons, thimbles, pencils, etc. I'm going to try again and this time it's going to be the best! So I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions? I want a lot of realism, and I want to be able to hand it down to my kids to play with. Furniture, flooring, etc. Thanks mylotters. Anything is welcome!

I have a doll house that my dad made from plywood when I was a little girl. Over the years I have worked on it and added to it. He just made the plain doll house and me and my mom made things for it as I grew up. Then when I got married I took it and worked on it. It is absoltely beautiful and wouldn't you know the luck I have two bys! LOL Actually they arenot proud of it but they played with it some as little fellas too! LOL Now 25 years later I still have it and I still work on it. Who knows maybe a granddauhter is in my future. It has entertained plenty of kids along the way as I am sure it will continue! Good Luck and take your time. You will be surprised what you will come up with.

Well Im not a guy but have done doll houses from a kit and some things from scratch. We used the ends of popsicle type craft sticks and made shingles for one but you have to be able to cut them at an angle or they wouldnt layer just right. When I was in my early teens my sister and I made one out of a cardboard box for my neighbors kids that we babysat. We worked many an hour before we finalized it. We had curtains from fabric beds from small boxes with covers etc.. We furnished it and everything. We were so proud of it but it took those kids less than an hour to demolish it!! We were outdone! The last doolhouse I worked on was a kit that a lady got to us the weekend after Thanksgiving and wanted it for her granddaughter for CHristmas. Every shingle was sepearate and had to be stained and was very intrecut but it worked out just in time for Christmas
