Setting New Records !

United States
February 1, 2009 12:19pm CST
A few of you will know what I am talking about, most of you will not, and that is ok. I just said I was going to do this if we made it, so that is what I am doing. Four weeks ago, a discussion was started. It was officially ended about 20 hours ago. There was one thread in the discussion that go so long, we decided to try to keep it going the rest of January for a world record. And, if not a world record, at least a myLot record. People, I do believe we accomplished what we set out to do. This one thread ran 55 full pages, and 2 or 3 lines into page 56! How is THAT for sticktoitivness, huh? I would like to thank any of you who might have added a little something to this particular conversation. We appreciate it. Soooooo, what is the longest, continuous discussion you have ever been involved in? Do you think you can break the record we set here last month?

I have seen that kind of thing in some of my other forums. They just keep a post going and its just basically random thoughts and random ideas. I really like that idea. We should do that with this one and see if we can get it longer than the other one was.

Autumnrose, I think we were hoping that this one would continue, kind of as a tribute to the one last month, or something.

That would be number two or four. They are at a tie now. I will check back later to see where to go. Right now I've got two teddy bears in the hospital that need a surgeon. BRB.

Go softly, savak. Don't want them to sustain injuries during surgery.

It passed a lot of people by, little man, not to worry, though. You can get in on this one, if you like. Give it about a week, so we can figure out what the longest thread is here, then contribute to the inanity that I tend to perpetuate.*L*

I am getting a little behind, myself. No, not behind myself. That's impossible! The only way that could happen is if I was twins, and even then I wouldn't really be behind myself. Oh, wait, what if I had split personalities? No, that wouldn't work either. Oh well, I will just stand in front of me and then I will be behind myself.

Well, get in on this one then! We are running on response #3 this time. Just pop in and add your comments on whatever subject is going on there at the time. We need all the help we can get on this one, since February is a short month.

That would be cool. We only have 26 more days to beat last month's record. We are going to need all the help we can get on this one! I am sure you have read the way it will work. Just keep coming back, find the response that has the most responses added to it, and add your own comments to whatever is going on at that time. Thanks!

One realy important thing that must be taken into consideration here if a new record is to be set this month. February only has 28 days this year, whereas January always has 31 days, regardless of what year it is. So that means in fact you/we have 3 less days this month to not only reach last month's number of pages but to pass it to make the new record. On the subject of challenges and records etc. A few year back my partner was a member of a site where they banned and delted heaps of those discussions with such interesting subjects as "coke or pepsi?" "twisties or pretzels" etc. It as more because they were usualy one or two word responses or a single line response. So someone set up a challenge to prove a point that any topic could receive a number of interesting quality responses. The sunject was "toilet paper".

Well, what are we waiting for, get to typing, man!*LOL* I had forgotten that little tidbit of information. The particular thread we had going was about anything and everything. We, my friends and I, tend to start one discussion and end up on a totally different subject, several times in one thread. Feel free to help us with out challenge, if you like. We are going to give it a week to see which thread is the longest and take it from there. Just pop in if/when you think about it, and add your comment to whatever subject we are on at the time.*S*

They've actually already decided to use thread number 3. So come on over and join in the fun. I know it will be interesting. BTW I hate those discussions that only require a one word answer too. The problem with that is I tend to run off at the mouth er fingers, so I can never stop with one word.

Well it is 42 degrees C in the water bag here, and believe me that is no fun at all. Not even all the fans and the air cooler going are doing much good at all and there is certainly no way I am going out into the garden for another hour or so. It might cool down before it gets dark or at lest I hope it does so that I can pick some of the pumpkins while some of the other vegetables are being watered. Cannot do it during the day because it will burn everything, so we are still doing it first thing in the morning and last thing at night. As least using the dripper tape, the water is one on the leaves so they do not get burnt. We need the leaves whole and intact to give some shade to the fruit and vegetables growing underneath them.

Yes I am in Australia. 42 degrees C is about 107F. It is easy to calculate. Multiply Celsius temperature X 9, then divide by 5 then add 32. Coming up for 46 degrees tomorrow and will be time to sort out the coolroom - will take me all day I expect.

How does 42 degrees C compare to F? I'm not good with those conversions. BTW did you intend this comment to go in this discussion? I take it you are located below the equator because I'm freeing my *** off here.

I doubt very seriously that I could break anyone's record here. I can't even get a good two pages of responses for any discussions that I start so I know I would never be able to break your record for the longest thread.

savak, you can still help. Just pop in when you can and add to the longest thread here. We are going to definitely need help with this one, since we have both gotten a little busy.
