I would go with real flowers. I hate the fake ones and you can tell that they are fake. Especially plastic ones would be the worst. How about silk flowers? They look a little bit better.

I would suggest real live plants, first they are good for your health, plants give off oxygen. You can find a large variety of non expensive plants in the nursery section of most department stores, they are easy to care for and if taken care of the right way they will last long and multiply.

I don't bother with buying "fresh" flowers for, like, putting on the dining room table unless it's for a special occasion. For that I have an assortment of dried and silk flowers. I also have some potted plants, one of which flowers a couple of times a year. I have a pot of shamrocks and plan to add to it this spring when they go on sale for St. Pat's. P.S. Shamrocks are very hearty. I put mine out to get some fresh air and forgot about it until really late so it almost froze (not quite, I think the temperature was like 35 when I went out to get it). Then I didn't water it for like a month. AND THEN my mom's cat ate all the shamrocks off leaving a pot full of stems and they all grew back and it's doing fabulously!

Always go with real plants/flowers! The fake ones do not look real at all...it would be better to have no plants than fake ones, but that's just my opinion. Reals flowers might be a bit expensive in the long term but you could buy long-lasting ones which may last 10 days, and if you get scented flowers, you would have a scent which you desire too.

Why not have both? Fake flowers can be plastic, fabric, beaded etc lots of options and can be quite beautiful. Place them around for a visual effect. You can also use real flowers that have been dried that are quite pretty and will keep pretty much forever like the fake ones. You can get a few real ones that are living - potted plants that will last for years, unless like me you forget to water them. Then of course you could have from time to time cut flowers in vases - flowers you've gone out an picked or bought that will only last a few days. Go for the gusto and have them all!

Personally I tried out the real flowers only to have them die on me,LOL. I now stick to the plastic variety, less chance of me wrecking them,LOl. You might want to try both out though, I would ask someone at a green house which are the easiest plants to take care of and which ones will last the longest. Hopefully you find what you are looking for, good luck.

I love flowers and plants. I would rather have real flowers inside the house than plastic ones if only I can afford it. Aside from them smelling good they are eye catchers. Yes they won't last forever but it is worth it to have them around the house. Plastic does last forever but never smell and they get dirty and you have to clean them over and over again for them to look beautiful each time.

When I was at my busiest, I found silk plants to be the best bet around here. I constantly forget to water and prune, so my poor plants would die. So, I have three small potted plants on my window sill in my kitchen so I can still have something "alive" that I won't forget because it's in my face when I'm doing dishes. In the rest of the house, I have silk.

I have a vine on top of my entertainment center that I actually started from a friends plant so the only cost to it was my pot to put it in. I have a money tree that my nephew got me for my Birthday which is a very attractive large plant , I have a christmas cactus which is easy up keep and a beautiful bloom and I have two mother-in-law tongues that are beginning to really get big so I'm going to have to do someting about that! LOL Outside I have window boxes that I put silk flowers in during the summer because where we live gets a lot of sun and it is hard to actually grow anyting in them. But they look pretty good from a distance. I hope you find soemthing that you like and is no really expensive. Good Luck!

well when it comes to flowers, I have to say real... but when it comes to plants that is a different story, as you have to really take care of them or they die, water them, dust them, move them around during times of year and you have to know alot about them and their enviroments, so for me I had 2 fake plants in my house last year and I enjoyed them since I didnt have to do anything with them and they just added to the decor of the room, but I got rid of them last year when I changed that room around.

Hey Janyen. I love real but in practice I have to have plastic, I am just not green fingered attal. When I moved I left a big company that sold really expensive fake flowers and they gave me a bunch they look so real, I had them out for about a year and they were really were easy to care for as you can imagine, but they are in the loft now as I made room for other things, I think I will dust them down and use them again someday so I have to say Fake. :)x

I don't think fake flowers make you feel good. I have lots of houseplants, never anything expensive. If you buy small plants in pots they are usually inexpensive. Spider plants are brilliant because they grow hanging baby plants which you can cut off and plant in their own pots. Cacti are good as well.

Maybe a list of pros and cons for each type of flowers would help: Real flowers: pros: improve the quality of air (oxygenate it), give a warm, cozy feeling cons: more expensive on short term, require time and care, pollen allergies Artificial flowers: pros: cheap, easy to maintain, easy to change them to fit any season/theme/occasion cons: artificial look (no, they will not really fool anybody) I would also suggest another possibility: dried flowers, possibly made into arrangements (just search on the net for dried flowers for some examples or have a look for instance at www.driedflowers.com/flowers/category/christmas-tabletop-creations). Hope this helps.

I think you should get some artificial flowers and then buy a few fresh flowers to complement the same. A misture of both the things can help you get the desired result. Also, whenever there is some occasion at home try and invest your money on artificial flowers rather than fresh ones so that you get value out of it.

both real and plastic flowers have its benefits. Actually in my opinion they serve for different occasions keeping the cost in mind. Plastic flowers cost less and doesn't require frequent buying but they are not real. So for gatherings and parties I generally use plastic flowers and plants. Remove them, wash and use again for the next occasion. But I also keep real flowers as they are natural and give a good fragrance to the room. Good Luck. Hope this helps you in deciding.

i sometimes use real flowers but sometimes i use plastic , the most inportant factor to me that play a role in this is the time during they year , i mean if we are in spring and summer i use normal flowers of course , whereas if we are in autumn or winter i use plastic flowers. however in both periods of time i make a good decision in selecting the kind of flowers and their colors.

I personally have both in my house. I do not have plastic, but I have silk. They look more real. If you are going to have real plants, you just must make sure that you have the proper lighting, and that you water them properly. I have just recently developed a green thumb. 10 years ago I could kill a plant by looking at it! My house has a lot of sunlight (sky lights), so my plants are very healthy and have lived a long time. Good luck!
