something in car design has been lost over the years

i'm not old myself but in the way i've sen car designs change in my lifetime i think that all of the elegance has gone and there's not as much character as they did.there are some modern cars that are decent but on the whole i think most look like speech bubbles

Changing design in auto industry nowadays using computer aided design, where lots of factor to be input in creating one new car design. There are human, safety, aerodynamic, durability, type of performance and fuel/energy saving. In simple explanation, the output design will totally depends on input data. That is why, what we look now is all are the products of computer generated.

I agree. There are still modern cars that are great and unique but on the whole cars seem to just look the same. A lot of work needs to be put into cars now a days to make them stand out and have a personal character unlike with the old muscle cars for example that already come with bucket loads of character.
