We ( India) as a country are full of people who have so many superstitions and would find one in to everything and some are so funny. i list here a couple
1. Don't cross way for 5 mins if a black cat ran across the way.
2. never eat with left hand.
3. always put right foot first.
I cant say I am that good a man that i never believed in them or never waited for few minutes if a cat cut off my way. So my question is
1) What superstitions do u know off?
2) Do you believe in them?
3) Do u like me wait for that to waive off?

actually not eating with the left hand is not really a superstition...I mean to say started as a superstition.
In days before modern technology and conveniences this was the hand to clean ones self after relieving one's self....therefore it was considered extremely rude to use this hand in touching ppl or eating.
But about superstitions...i don't believe in the black cat one because i have had two black cats in my life :D
but i sometimes can't help to believe my next one. It is if you break a mirror you will have bad luck for the next seven years. Well after i break a mirror it does appear i always have bad luck for the longest time :(

Ya I have seen few English people they keep black cat as pet animals.
even in few films the cat is portrayed as a bad pet.
The breakage of mirror willingly is different and unwillingly is different.
when you plan for some thing and since a long time it's getting postponed and one day you plan to do it any cost .
then on that particular day if in the morning or some time before before the main act suddenly if mirror is slipped from your hand or from any one of your family that indicates that your plan is going to fail. It may get succeeded but takes little more time. And some times not.
It's an indication . There is some sense we call super sense for every human and some inner voices which try to protect us from some bad happenings. It is how you perceive things that differs from person to person.

I am not particularly superstitious but my father is. He says he does not believe in miracles or God or anything like that, but he is the most superstious person I know. He freaks out if a black cat crosses his path and goes mad if salt is spilled. If a mirror is smashed he really loses it. As far as I am concerned superstions only effect you if you believe they will.

Haha those are funny. It's a cultural thing I guess. And has to do with religion maybe? I'm from the Philippines and we also have many superstitions. Some of them are very funny but some make senses. one that I can think of right now is to wash your face with the blood from your first period to avoid pimples forever. Hahaha!! It's for women only, of course, and is scientifically very ironic.

we too here in the philippines have too much superstitions but if you let them control you forever, then consider the consequences that might occur.
sometimes things occur accidentally then people interpret it as a result of not following your beliefs, but it's up to you. i tried not to follow them and praise God nothing happened to me.

I just want to clarify about the 2 example "superstitions" mentioned by agrim94.
1- Always put right goot first :
This is taught in Islam that when a Muslim enters in Mosque, he should put right foot first and when he exits , he should put left foot first.
This is nothing to do with superstition but it is taught this to be observed as a
2- Eating with Right Hand:
The islamic teachings tell that one should eat with his right hand and whatever good deed he may do, he shoulf do with with right hand i.e giving charity to poor, or doing any other similar work. It is also taught that left hand should be used for things like washing in toile or anyother similar thing. So basically, right and left hands are to be used for 2 different type of works (good/clean and dirty/immpure)

People who believe in superstitions, are ignorant and tend to believe what they hear or are told as truth, and don't question anything! I have a friend who's husband once threw an entire pan of good fried chicken in the trash and spent the rest of the night in fear because he said you NEVER fry a chicken leg with the thigh attached! If you do, you will cast a terrible fate upon your loved ones! He is from the back woods of Kentucky and has a lot of odd little sayings and superstitions. Honestly, now I ask you, isn't that about the dumbest thing you ever heard, about the chicken leg? How people can believe in any of that crap is beyond me!

Hi there. Here int he Philippines, we have lots of superstitions especially when getting married. Well, sometimes I believe in them but most I dont. I just follow them for the sake of my old aunts and uncles... who still believes in folklores... lolz... Check below for some superstitions about marriage:
When giving gifts: knives and other sharp objects are not good. They say that it can lead to a broken marriage.
Couples should not travel that long because they are accident prone....
One interesting (and quite ridiculous) superstition is that the bride should step on the groom’s foot when heading towards the altar. This would force the husband to agree with whatever the wife says all their married life.
You’ll seldom see a bride wearing pearls on her wedding day. These are said to bring unhappiness to her in her married life.
Happy Earning! Thanks for the discussion! Happy Mylotting and Have a great day! Cheers!

I cannot say that I believe in half of the Superstitions we have in America. Most of these we believed in as children and have let them go as adults. Though some tend to
still believe.
The only one I could possibly think that I do believe is that, when your ears are ringing someone is talking bad.
As for liking you I cannot say, I do not even know you.

Actually, there are so many superstitions in every country, and different country has different superstitions also. But pls believe in that if you trust there it is then there it is and if you don't trust there it is then there it isn't.

I don't know about all superstitions across the world. Perhaps some are actually true. However, I am a firm believer that you receive what you give forth. For instance, if you wish harm on someone...it will come back to you, and with much harsher force. Do unto others, so to speak.

Hi, if you see a magpie(black and white bird) you should salute it to stop it hexing you. I never do this, we have to many birds to worry about it but my husband and daughter ALWAYS do it and get worried when I don't but I laugh:) Also never cross someone on the stairs its bad luck, I guess it would be if you fell over each other. I love to hear of superstitions they make me chuckle:)x

Human beings should have certain fears and superstitions then only the world runs harmoniously. when there is no fear then every human becomes an animal.
Every religion has certain kind of sentiments or what we call discipline which we fear to cross them or break them . that keeps us in discipline.
and some people might have faced problems when they tried to break certain kinds of things what you said. But it does not happen for every one.
when Dasha is bad every thing goes on bad.
to tell in elaborative way it consumes my time.
