It is actually hard especially when you are in the same circle of friends. What i will share is what a friend did....I think it worked, but I just don't know if it really worked for him. Let Jan2x confess his feelings towards Allen. Blurting it out would make him feel relieved for keeping the feelings. If Allen has no feelings for him, then good. After telling his feeling for her, never ask Allen's feelings towards him. Because if he do so, it will make him change his mind. It is a matter of respect and trust. Respect Allen and her relationship. Trust for the friendship. It is hard, but better do this now than nurturing the feelings deeply. Suppress the feelings. After telling his feelings. Get out, let her go. Avoid her. It will not work when you see each other everyday. Do not call her up nor text her. Meet with other friends. Sacrifice for a while. Perhaps, after some years, things will go fine. On the part of Allen, respect Jan2x decision to avoid and sacrifice the friendship for a while. That is the better way, than entertain his feelings and become unfair. It would be more complicated when you entertain it because she is in a relationship. That is what my friend did. I do not know where he is now. He never talk, call and even chat with me online. He totally avoided me after he revealed his feelings towards me. I remember what he just said that he will avoid me out of respect to me, my boyfriend and my relationship even though it would hurt him. I hope this would work with Jan2x and Allen.

I don't think there is one true way to stop our feelings for someone else. We can just go out and stay active and keep our mind off of the other person and sometimes find someone new to get to know, and the feelings will change.

Avoiding him is the best solution to your friend's problem. But sometimes love goes on a wrong way and we don't really know what's the best score between two hearts. A talk between the group is a must.
