Why are people so insecure and phony in this world

I was with my friends and was walking towards the college. I saw a man who slipped on the footpath and no one rushed to help him up. Even my friends walked as if blind to the scene. I went ahead and helped the poor man up. While I was doing so, my professor came out from the college gate and saw this. I didn't know this, but immediately all my friends rushed towards me to show that they were trying to help. I was amazed at my friends sudden turnaround. I did not give it a thought. After wards in the evening, before leaving the college, that professor called us all to his cabin and appreciated our efforts. I was stunned. I mean I may look selfish to you all, but that time the professor actually thanked everyone of my friends and actually forgot me! I was so disturbed. I have seen what happens to such things. They get recognition and become successful after wards. Just because to show the professor they came to help me to help that man stand him up. What's happening to real deep sense of helping nature, which we used to have?

Its the media..Look at all the Paris Hilton's and Kardashian girls.Do you really think this is how real people live..Sorry going off subject for a moment.People are too worried what other people may think if they help someone. It may cramp their style you know...I am so sensitive to others feelings that I get really ticked off when I think about these little brats..Someone in the media needs to bring it down a tone and Paris needs to close her legs or at least get paid for it...and when I say Paris Im using her as an example of those people..Generally speaking..

A good point, though bit off topic, but no problem. We can deviate from the topic. Its true. The media is always onthe constant lookout for some gossip to fill their pages and to take your example, Paris Hilton for God's sake is just a hotel chain owner. She isn't even a celebrity in real sense, but still media chases her! Thats so weird for my understanding. I have also heard about Kardashian but don't know about her much frankly, so I can't comment on her.

I know exactly what you mean, I was standing at a pedestrian crossing waiting for lights to turn green when an old lady tripped, I immediately tried to help her but i couldn't lift her up and I literally had to beg some men to help me, I don't know what it is with people who just don't get involved and help people...it is sad really.

Hi lilaclady thanks for responding to the discussion. Ya may be people are so invovlved and busy with their own thoughts or life that they don't bother nowadays. I think people now don't live their life their way, but act it out like they see themselves in their minds! - The perfect glamour lives as the media projects! Isnt it?

I would help someone just because I could help and I don't think of the results or the consequences. If other people become famous because of something I did in private then I would be happy for them. Cheers!!!

Yeah thanks deepak1q2w3e.. But you seee, the number of responses says it all. People aren't even interested in talking about it.. Obviously except some select few. If this keeps on going then who knows where is the world heading to.
