not being responded to...

You must give it time... There have been a few issues I have been hearing about lately and some people are not so sure about newer members. They have reason to be suspicious so it has nothing to do with you and I really hope you don't take it personal. Your friend is right, this is a great place to be and a great place to meet wonderful people and talk about anything that is on your mind or bugging you. Every one is always willing to help and lend a hand. Like I said just give it time and you will soon find out that what your friend said is true. GOOD LUCK!! you can't get rich here so you have to enjoy what you are doing!

Joining myLot is a choice...making friends is a process. Earning respect for interesting discussions and responses takes a bit longer. You might add a lot of names to your friends list but if you think they are really your friends straight off then you are being a bit silly. Ideally you would take the time to build up the different headings to put in your interests folder and then to seek out people who have similar interests and read their posts to see how well you agree. Success here is not automatic and does not happen the minute you join. Mylot is full of great people who are all different types from all over the world. Of all the networking sites I have visited and joined on the world wide web, myLot is by far the best and the one I have stayed at...the others are all left behind...except for a children's site I belong to.

Please do not feel so disappointed in the start itself. It takes time to attain some recoginition here and as you get older here, you will come to know the nitty-gritty of getting warm receiption and large number of response. Please take part in as many discussions as you can, post some quality responses and start your own quality discussions, as much as you can. My best wishes and best of luck!

As you noticed mylot is a little different than some of the other sites out there. With so many members on this site and with you being relatively new your discussions may get overlooked. The best things you can do to get noticed is actively participate on here and add as many people to your friends list. Just remember some people are weary of accepting newbies friendships so if you are going to request someones friendship be sure you get to know them (and vise versa) through discussions that you have started as well as those that you have responded to. We all know what it's like to be a newbie on here. If you stick it out you should get the hang of things in no time at all and you'll be an old pro before you know it. The best way to get to know the others here is to just jump in and read and respond to discussions that interest you. Same here. I got lot of friends not but I have not received a welcome message from any of them - either a PM or a note in my profile page. Nevertheless, I am not expecting such kind of welcoming here because this is not a social networking site like Friendster, Myspace, Facebook, etc... Unlike in social networking sites where your primary concern is making and contacting friends, members here are busy thinking of new discussions or responding to discussions that they barely have time to visit all of their friends profile to leave a welcome message. But we do welcome new members here warmly through other means though - the invitations to be a friend, the acceptance of a friend request, the nice responses in the discussions we started, the reactions to our responses - just shows that you are a welcome addition to the community. We may not profusely use the word welcome here friend but you will definitely feel it. Welcome to myLot friend and Happy myLoting.

Hi Sammy14! Welcome to Mylot. Do not compare much about Mylot to Friendster, Myspace, etc because they have their own kind in making friends or in welcoming new members. You have to have patience because pioneers might not catch your attention right away unless you initiate it. How? Submit an outstanding or attention-catching discussion or send friend requests. Perhaps, you may add an image as your avatar, that way you could also catch their attention visually...Take the initiaive and not the other way around. Finally, enjoy your stay and keep on posting! Yes, mylot members should lay the 'red carpet' welcoming all newbies here. But everyone seems to be not in here at the right hours and lucky the admin saw it fit that this discussion of yours be put on the frontline which give me the chance to view it and response. There is no rhyme or reason to getting responses here on mylot, all I can advise you to do is to keep posting response to other peoples discussions and start some of your own. I will add that, when starting your own discussion, it should be worded so that it is a question, not simply a few statements of what you are thinking. If you ask a question then more people will respond Welcome to mylot! It is a fun and friendly place to be

myLot is not a social networking site. Treat it as a forum more than a "way to connect to friends" because you MAKE friends here and not really intended to MEET old friends here. :) I looked up your discussions and I think the problem was that you didn't have interesting subjects :) You can improve on that. Although not any of my started discussions became included in the mylot daily sent emails.. but yours have become one of the most responded! its great, right? When I post one, I do not get a lot of responses, but maybe my discussions are just not as interesting as I think they are. Welcome to Mylot..It gets better as you get to know people and people get to know you. You might even make alot of good real friends on here. I know I have made a few friends I don't know what I would do without their spunkyness to help me through my day. it takes a while for people to warm up to you because there are so many that have come and not stayed long and left but everyone warms up to you after a while! Hang in there this a fun place and although I may not get the responses I want I love giving my advice for sure
