Recently we saw harbhajan and dhoni getting padmashri. I doubt whether they simply deserve it?

Players like Sachin, Ganguly, Dravid, kapil, Sunil...etc have really made us proud on several occasions and they are assets of our country. Why can't they be awarded, they are not only involved in making money, they have been involved in charity and other social works, people get jealous out of their income...They are India's brand ambassadors, they play for our country, they could have left us and earned even better income abroad after joining county.
So think before saying that don't deserve, they make our international presence strong and no Indian Cricketer has found to be involved in international ethical concerns, means they are pure as well...

I can answer to if Cricketers deserve padmashri but if you are asking about whether a specific cricketer should get the award then it would be on a case to case basis.
But honestly I feel if cricketers have done India proud with their efforts then they should very well deserve to get any civilian honour depending upon the level of their efforts and more importantly the results they bring. What great service has Pt. Bhimsen Joshi done to the society to recieve the Bharat Ratna? Or Lata Mangeshkar for that matter? What point you are miossing is that \they were never suppose to do any service to the society but they have excelled in the art they chose to make the goal of their life. And its not a cricketers fault that he can play cricket well.
I have often heard people comparing cricketers with the soldiers and commandos and saying cricketers do not deserve the accolades they are getting when you compare what they do with what the security personnels do. Players are only playing for money. and many such things. What point we miss out is that a cricketer can always become a soldier if need be and might even become the best one at it but a soldier cannot become a great cricketer unless he has the talent. And what we pay is for the talent and not the work. Because if everyone was to be paid for the hard work they do then I would believe the worker pulling luggage on the railway station would deserve to get more salary than what a manager in a software company gets.
I believe the arguement I put forth makes sense to you.

Yes. They are definitely qualified for the Padmashri award. They are representing India to the world. Dhoni took Indian team to a great height. Harbajan the fantastic spin bowler of India. They are the assets to India.
