I for myself don't agree with the idea of adding one more year. Adding one more year does not guarantee that the student will learn more. Nowadays, as the economic problem rise in every country, recession every where what else can be the job of the graduating student on March? When the nursing course was in demand a lot of students who graduate from high school want to take the nursing course and then after they graduate maybe 10 percent just got lucky to have a good job, went abroad.
Some parents work hard to give their children better future and send them to good school but until when? Some of the parents say its going to be difficult. Every year tuition increase, in addition to that is the projects, books, and other expenses so is it right to add one more year? Everything depends on the person who is studying. He/ She can learn and study hard so they can graduate with knowledge. God does not create stupid person, its the person themselves who made them to be one.

I don't favor adding one year more to college courses. Why not think of other measures for the students to absorb the knowledge their supposed to learn. Reduce extra curricular activities time, instead of wasting time for a whole day program, devote other time instead for lectures. Train teachers on how to encourage their students to be more interested with their studies instead of driving their intersts away. Why not imposed a more quality education instead. Increasing one year more won't improve the knowledge aquired by students, this would just be a waste of time. Instead of expecting the children to be earning already on their 5th year to help themselves and their families why freeze them for another year to be in school.

You are correct with your thought. Adding one more year does not guarantee us of anything. We can have extra curricular activities but maybe the Universities should really watch out to their students. Some students graduate but nothing in their head. Students should be responsible too with their behavior. If the teachers try their best and the students just sit and stare without opening their minds, do you think it will be possible for them to learn? All people should be responsible, teacher or students.

Hi, I am agree with Angalyyn. Adding one more year in your education doesn't mean that you have gained more knowledge. If you are thinking to change your field, like, if I am doing engineering and I changed my field from Engineering to management, then it's ok, but just to tackle the problem of recession you are planning to spend one more year its not a good idea. Its true that it will give some expwerience and will help in job findings and application but it doesn't give any guarranty.

I don't think adding another year is necessary. In today's situation of our country, financial difficulties or struggles is the most common problem. Anyone can learn as long as he put his heart on it. What we need for quality education are more qualified teachers and better facilities.

I don't think it's neccessary to add another year in college. If they really want to improve the quality of education, they should removed the non-essential courses. I major in Marketing and there a lot of subjects in college that I do not use in my job now. They should just revised the curicillum instead of adding another year

It's fine by me as long as it is free. LOL. Hmmm... but if you really think about it, another year is another time to sharpen up you mind. hehehe... Are you from philipipines? I am also from philippines. The real solution for this problem is to put put more intelectual teachers in college not just those teachers who couldn't speak fluent english and thos teachers who are just killing there time in their class. I mean, it should be better if we put outstanding teachers who have achived alot of things when they were stil studying and by putting these kinds of teacher and increasing their salry so that the won't complain, I think the additional year in college will be abolished. That's what I think. How about others out their? CAre to share you solutions?

yup..im from Philippines too. i think i agree with your idea about the teachers. i think if the teachers will more strict with the lesson plans, grades, projects..maybe it will help. yeah..raising the salary of the teachers will do to because some of the good teachers are moving and finding their luck in other country even as a caregiver or domestic helper because the salary is much bigger than being a teacher here in the Philippines. Some teachers love their profession. I think teachers should have a passion for teaching, its not just sitting or talking in front of the class and after that will say "see you again tomorrow" without thinking if the student understand what she discussed. Its crazy..i got a teacher like that and what i did is study on my own thru internet, do some research. it really depends on what kind of person are you. if you are willing to succeed then do something on your own right?

You are correct. just by increasing time fetches nothing. increasing quality will definitely. Instead of wasting time in thinking about increasing course duration try to concentrate on quality of education. Now a days all employers are concentrating on quality of education rather than GPA or duration of the course. just to increase the tuition fee of the course these tricks are implementted by colleges.

I am a college studebt ,I would rather my university life will be shorted rather than prolonged ,just as what you said adding one more year dosn't guarantee the student will learn more .The long time of the university just will make us more lazy since the university life is so relaxed(at least in my case)So I would rather this time will be shorted ..

I think our study duration is already long enough. Also it depends on the type of course. I don't think adding one more year necessarily improves the quality of education, rather we should try taking the time we have now and make it more substantial, for both learning and teaching. Additional years are not compulsory and it's the student's choice whether they want to further their already extended education. With the economic downturn, improving and updating your skills is an advantage and it's not a lose to attend a year of class while also working. I agree with you that adding one more year to courses should not be compulsory as it will increase the already high expenses on education.

No. Iagree to add one more year for education and other college courses because thats time waste only. Already more students that duration study well and well worked so that duration its ok.
