Why do we close our eyes while sneezing?

When I was a kid I asked my grandmother that question and she said to keep our eyes in. I can remember being afraid to sneeze with them open for fear they would shoot out and be lost forever. LOL. I wish I knew the real reason we close our eyes when we sneeze.

Maybe ur grandmother was right. From now on i am not going to try opening my eye while sneezing. lol.

LOL. I can so remember her telling me that with a straight face I bet she laughed her head off about it later on. I know I would. LOL.
