Yesterday I got the opportunity to go on a sleigh ride that was pulled by some pretty awesome draft horses! I am usually kind of afraid of them as they are so big but these were gentle and sweet! LOL...Do you like horses? Have you ever gotten to go on a sleigh ride that was pulled by horses?

I love horses myself. We used to have horses but not the draft type. I have never been on a sleigh ride pulled by horses but have been on a hay ride pulled by a horses. I have seen the big Clydesdale draft horses before when they come to our city one time.

I see Clydlaes each year at the Minnesota State Fair. I actually love going to the horse shows there as well each year seeing all the breeds competing in various classes and actions etc. The best competition is the wagon pull. Awesome event to see

I love horses, some of the carrages in town are pulled by draft or draft cross horses. I got to talk to one of the drivers EONS ago, and her horse was a shire cross.
I got the see the Bud horses at a rodeo once, those are some BIG horses.
Funny you should post this today, I tracked down one of my former riding instructors on line just today and shot her an email!

I do like horses. Took horseback riding lessons as a kid and it was so much fun. We did shows for our parents and friends. I did learn to ride in an English saddle which isn't helpful if going on a trail ride with horses. They have on Western saddles so the feel is different. I've always lived in a big city so there wasn't any place to raise horses. In order to board one or more, it would have been costly. My parents didn't have the resources to buy and board a horse for me. Those were the good old years. I've been on a buggy ride pulled by horses. Was fun but terribly cold.

I've ridden many horses in my life working with circuses but never been on a slegh ride in my life. The best breed I ever rode was Arabians. Very graceful, stroing, powerful, and large. I loved being with the circus being able to play with and feed, bathe, etc all the various wild animals as well as domesticated ones like horses etc.

Wow Jill, sounds like you had a wonderful day! Lucky you!
I'm a big fan of horses although I've never owned one. I use to go horseback riding all the time when I was younger. Can't do it anymore because of my back. I've never been on a sleigh ride though, sounds terrific!
I did see the Budweiser Clydesdale's at a fair once, they are HUGE too and just as sweet!

I love the draft horses, Clysdales, Belgians, Percherons, Shires. They're magnificent. We never had any draft horses, we had; Shetland ponies as kids, Appolosa's, Quarter Horses, Arabians. We had a lot of good times with those horses. We'd often spend all day riding through forests, fields, through creeks, following deer paths.

I like horses but I will never ride them. I didn't get their permission to get on their back.I rather see themrun and play in an open field. and if they want to , they can come to me and I will feed them some sugar or an apple , whatever they would like.

Hi Jill,
To this day, I am afaid of horses. I have a great respect for those animals!! When I wa younger, my best friend and I were going to go horse back riding. I had never been on a horse before, so I was going to ride her little brother's horse because he was so mellow Before I even got a chance to mount the horse, he bit me!! That was the end of my desire to get on a horse.
I have been on a hayride, where the wagon is pulled by horses, but never a sleigh ride. It never snows enough in Louisiana to have a sleigh ride. LOL The hayride was fun, and my grandchildren loved it.
I like horses from a distance. They are just so big, beautiful, and graceful to watch. Some of the feats they accomplish are just amazing.
I have a granddaughter that just loves horses and knows that she will never have one, so we started an account at Ponystars.com, so she can play with horses. We have fun with it.
Have a nie day my friend...

The sleigh ride sounds totally cool! I guess I'm going to show my ignorance, I don't know what "draft" horses are. But when I was growing up, the girl that was my friend next door had a horse. We used to pick grass and feed it. I got to ride it a couple of times. It was a very gentle soul. I'd probably be afraid of a horse now, if I ever had the chance to be near one.
Hmm, I don't think I've ever been on a sleigh ride, but I've ridden in a horse-drawn carriage before.
You must have had a fantastic time that day.
