Do you consider Bob Dylan being a sell out when he started playing electrical music? My own answer would be that it's kind of stupid to call him a sell out just becouse he changed his musical direction. I mean he can do what he wants just like the rest of us.

Wow, didn't he switch to electric in 1969 or there abouts? He may have been considered a sellout at Newport that year but he's way past that now. Bob Dylan has actually been on short lists for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Personally I think he deserves a Nobel. He's now a compass for three Internatonal generations. By not selling himself out, he didn't sell us out either. As far as this old baby boomer is conscerned it is God, Country, Family & Bob Dylan. Those are my compass points.

I don't think he's a sell out. He's a great musician, and it's nice to hear all kinds of music he makes. No one's a sell out for wanting to try new stuff, or make new music.

Nope. Its good to see his music evolving. Besides, even the the recent changes, his music is still distinctly Bob Dylan.

i do not think he is a sell out. when he went electric it was a big shock to the folkies. but as a kid he listened to rock and blues. he always wanted to get into that music, and folk was a way to jump start his career. he is revolutionary. now he is gravitating towards blues. he can play any style of music he wants, as long as his lyrics are solid, and they are.
