When you cook with alcohol...

does all the alcohol cook out of the food during cooking? I'm wondering because I have a friend who makes chili with beer in it and we were invited to dinner and I was wondering if I should worry about the alcohol affecting my 2 year old. Maybe it wouldn't even be enough to matter even if the alcohol was still in it, but I'm cautious like that.
