Personally for me, there are many motivations that are making me continue to want to loose weight, and keep it off as well. Considering I am Insulin Dependant diabetic I know the weight loss is better for my sugar levels, health, etc. Also with TV shows out there like Biggest Loser this continues to want to keep me motivated to get down to a better weight as well. Personally when you weigh less you feel better and your health is a lot better as well.

Looking in the mirror when I am getting into the shower. My clothes being too tight. Getting short of breath going up stairs. Seeing beautiful women in magazines and on television. Working with young, beautiful thin girls everyday. Also working with older overweight women everyday too!
I think I would be more motivated if I had a diet buddy who lived nearby. If I lived nearer my sister, I would join the gym she did and then be motivated to go and exercise.

I think it is all a mindset. I have to have it in my heart and my mind to get up and workout. I am beat right now too. Just finished working, made dinner, ate, did dishes and will be heading out to my daughters basketball in 30 minutes. I should be on the treadmill right now, but have no desire to do it.
I do know that once i start, I feel better and then continue. The hard part is starting.

The scare of diabetes...it runs in my family, but I don't have it yet. My mirror is unforgiving. I can't afford to buy new clothes if I gain weight. Most guys don't like big girls. Right now I need to be doing something active, but I'm just too tired. I'll catch up tomorrow. LOL

It's actually a vicious circle - when you exercise, you feel good because you've done it and it makes you feel better - when you don't exercise, you feel bad because you didn't both emotionally and physically. The first motivation is actually mental in feeling good about yourself because your taking action - eventually, you will see the physical benefits to reinforce those feelings.

I've tried motivating my self with a mirror (didnt work i just avoided it) I tried having to pay my sister for each time i didn't do the "assigned" exercise in the week. Didnt work
I also tried a couple other things that didn't work.
So far what is working is...my boyfriend and i are in a long distance relationship...for every time i dont exercise like i should i have to wait an extra day to see him.
As well...my mom sisters a cousin an aunt and i are in a competition to see who can lose the most weight by Easter and who ever does gets 120 dollars.
So far its working I've lost 11 pounds since the 5th of January.

my favorite dress. I want to wear that dress which I just recently bought, I it doesn't fit because I am chubby, so I need to exercise.. this is a good motivation I guess.

I just started a discussion in live my life to the fullest interest on how I lost weight, and what helped me. How often were you exercising to get burned out, or was it other things that you are burned out from so you are just so tired that you don't also want to add exercising to the list. I think life can get real busy and tiring. So I understand getting burned out from that. I go to school and work full time and I do a lot of driving in between to get from place to place. But I have found that exercise is a great release for me. I also try and do something else as I am exercising. Like study for my classes. Or when I am feeling like I never get to relax I opt to watch a movie as I exercise. I also set goals for myself of what I want to achieve with exercising. Goals that I can accomplish short term so I can see my progress. Like I recently ran a 5K. That was a big deal for me because previously I was never much of a runner. But I set my mind to wanting to do it and then I worked on my cardio and got myself to the point where I could run a 5K. I am now working on a 10K and will further that later on with a possible Triathlon. In the discussion I started I talked about losing the weight and the things I am able to do now. This has all been a great motivation for me. I love to go hiking and so incorporating your exercise with something that you love to do helps with not feeling burned out. It seems to me that we get burnt out because everything we are doing feels like they are have too's. I recently have found that my have too's have changed to get too's and I am loving life. I am not getting burnt out like I used to. I am not feeling overwhelmed with all that I have to do, because I get to do these things. It was partly a change of attitude towards the things that I am doing in my life, and also a change of life. All these things have given me greater motivation to keep up with the exercise and maintain the weight that I have lost. I know this goal setting really works because I have another friend of mine who lost a lot of weight and she also set goals for herself of running a 5k, and then I was with her cheering her on as she ran her 10K, and then once again I was with her with several friends as she participated in a triathlon. Setting goals for herself helped her to accomplish and learn to love exercise. Now she loves going to the gym. In fact you will probably find her there more than you will anywhere else. :)
