Amazing, powerful, awe inspiring.
I'm sitting at my computer, and a lighting storm has began forming outside my window. No rain yet, but I bet it's coming. There has been a massive system lurking above us for quite some time, and I think tonight it will show us just how big and powerful it is.
The lightning doesn't seem to be hitting the ground, just playing in the clouds all by itself. The wind has began to pick up. I love rainy nights!
Has anyone ever seen a lightning storm?
It is amazing to watch the electrical discharge with so much power just over you!
Enjoy the weather, it's all different. You will never see two sunsets that are the same. Nature has a way of being original in everything it does!

So true. However, you are very brave to keep your computer on. When I hear thunder and see lightening, I turn off my computer because I am afraid that the next thing I have will be a power outage. I do not trust my surge protector to save my computer. I know I should have more faith than that, but I am old school and still remember the old days.
It still makes me smile to this day because I remember my Grandmother's words, "God is doing His work. Be quiet." and I asked her, "Mama doesn't He work when the sun is shining?" She said "Shut up gal!" and I ducked. I guess I was a smart@$$ kid.
One thing I learned was to stay calm, relax and enjoy the weather and the company of my family or to entertain myself if left to my own devices. Not a bad lesson.

The Grand Canyon is one my favorite places to visit. When I was in high school -a group of friends and I decided to hike down the Canyon (with supervision, of course). We got to the halfway point fine. Everything was as expected. On our way up though - at first it started drizzling. Other started to run (I honestly don't know what they were trying to achieve), while me and a couple of friends stayed with the guide. He said to sit close to the ground because lightning should be coming.
Next thing you know, it's hailing. Then lightning! Mannn what a sight!! About 5 miles from us - a tree was hit by lightning and caught on fire. Then this girl from a different group (she was so annoying) started crying and yelling "we're gonna die! we're gonna die!" Anyway, what an amazing sight.
Eventually it stopped raining - before we got back to the rim, there were some patches of rain. But lightning was far, we could see it strike the ground though. VERY COOL!
