Well in a ob inetrview dressing up smartly is a must and if you feel it will make you appear smarter and you will feel more confident, there is no harm in going for a tie......But I guess its not compulsory to wear aite for interviews unless it is specifically stated in the dress code..any way good luck to you..Its your performance and credentials that are more important.....

I really have no problem wearing a tie. I'm just worried on what impression i might give the interviewer.

It depends on what job you are applying for. But for me a formal attire is good enough even without the tie. If you are planning to do a door-to-door selling of encyclopedia then you CAN wear a tie. Lol

I will recommend you to wear a tie. There is nothing like overdressed when it comes to interview. My Human Resource Management Lecturer said that when you dress formally (plus a tie of course) it is a sign of respect to the interviewer. So, good luck for your interview.

It depends what are you going to apply for. If it is a clerical work yes I would go with a tie and formal wear, preferably a suit. If it is manual work it would be another story. Use your charm and be natural as much as you can. Don't try to impress. Be yourself. Good luck

It depends I think if it is a custom at the place where you are applying to wear a tie, if not, then you may be overdressed. I have to say that you have to observe the working environment if its formal or informal setting and those that are working their how they dress. It is sort of giving an impression that you will fit just right in their set-up.

Depends. Are you going for a manual labor job? Office job? Have you taken a look at how the people there (at your level of employment) dress? I'd dress for the level of the job. Just be neat & clean, & not flashy, & dress for the way you'd have to dress IN the job, & you should be fine. Maggiepie

100% Yes! If you can use a real tie that is even better. But you should always look neat and tidy for an interview. It shows the interviewer that you care and are interested in the job. Good luck!

I think if you feel comfort with tie then its not a question of overdressed or not . main thing is that you should be comfortable and be confident at the time of interview thanks for sharing

hi, modstar. I think if you wear a suit then you'd better wear a tie. It looks neat and spunky.

I can't really say because i don't know what you will be wearing... but if you think a tie will make you look more dignified and professional... then go for it... i hope you will update us after the interview... and i hope i will turn out great for you...

That depends entirely on the type of establishment you are applying at. Is it a formal setting where other men where ties? Then the answer is yes. If it's a job with a more relaxed environment, then you probably don't need to wear a tie. Since you have already gone to the interview...did you wear one? What type of job was it for?

I realize that you've probably already been to the interview and back but maybe someone else is reading and I can help them.... The director of the career center in my college said the rule of thumb with job interviews is to dress one step above what you will be wearing on the job. If the job is one where blue jeans and t-shirts are acceptable, then slacks and a button down shirt is enough "dress" for the interview. If slacks and a button down are the office norm then add a tie and jacket. This of course doesn't go all the way to black tie and tails but you get the idea.

Well if your suit requires you to wear a tie then feel free to do it. Just make sure that it relevent with its color. It can make you more pleasing with your interviewer.
