I guess there are different practices of people in cleaning their butts after using the toilet bowl. In the Philippines most people uses water to do their thing while here in the USA it's mostly toilet papers. What about you (and in your place), which do you prefer to use, water or toilet papers?

Interesting topic, and normally I wouldnt´t have answered to such a weird issue but I just think that it´s funny how habits and costums vary from one country to another, I believe that the common (and most higienic) way to do it is using the toilet paper AND THEN washing yourself, I never would have thought that there was a choice....

Well yes there are various ways in doing that I guess because it's different here while I used to have water before. But yours I guess is the best; using both of them (toilet paper and water) Great! thanks for the response.

Well this question is gross coz it is up to your hygiene level that you want to maintain. Well for me both is necessary other wise there is lot of problem. I use water pressure and after that toilet paper.. I don't think there is anykind of option here. What about you silver jam you use only water ...

Well I guess there are options here, hence the discussions. I know in most Asian counties people are using water while in most countries like the USA, Europe and Australia people are using toilet papers. Yes I was using water before but now am switching to toilet paper because it's the practice in the place where I am right now.

es I guess you're right; it might be because of the climatic condition in a certain place. You definitely don't like using water in cold places as it will only make you feel more cold. Thanks for the response.

Well in asian country they use water you are rite. Well in other country where they use toilet papers is mostly for one reason i say its due to the atmosphere there as it is cold they cannot use water. Well asian countries are having hot climatic conditions so they can prefer to use both tissue as well as water. what you say??

Well we both came from a tropical and Asian country where using water in the bathroom is the common practice of people. I find it more convenient and I already used to it, but here in the USA they are using tissue/toilet papers so am trying to adopt the practice by now. Thanks for the response.

Hi jam, I am "pinay" and I love using water! LOL! That is why I have always a "tabo" in our bathroom! I can't stand using the paper alone, just not use to it!

I prefer to use water but their are also times that I used toilet paper. At home I use water but when nature calls outside home i used toilet paper. After using water of course I really make sure that your hands is cleaned with soap.

Well it mostly depends on the situation sometimes. Of course you cannot always bring water w/ you but you can w/ some tissue/toilet papers so you can use what is convenient and available. Thanks for the response.

I would prefer both. Water alone isn't going to get your butt clean. Even if the water pressure is high, you're still going to need to whipe. And toilet paper will get it cleaner than just water, but still not completely clean. Wet whipes. That's the way to go.

Oh good, that's a great suggestion. By the way when people uses water of courser they have to wipe their butt too otherwise they feel wet. Thanks for the response.

yep. they cost a bit more, but save you money in the long run, as you'll need less wet whipes to get your butt clean then toilet paper. Unless you're one of those one square people. How do you get your butt clean with one square by the way? Those people that go in the stall , and tear it up. You hear "uhhhhhh......ha....uhhhhhhhhh...grrrrrrrrr...PLOP! PLOP! FFFFFFFFFRRRRRRRPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!" And then you hear a quick whipe, and then they're out of the stall. Like wtf? Their butts must be so frikin gross.

Dear friend, If the toilet is much clean and if the water is good I would use water and if the the tissue paper is better and neat than other things in the toilet I may use that. I prefer the most clean one at that toilet. If all are neat I would prefer water.

hahaha!!! for me? I don't feel clean when I am not using water to clean myself after using the toilet and of course after using water I will also use the toilet paper to wipe out dry. I know there are may practices of people but for hygiene sake, water is best to clean yourself.

I agree, water is the best thing to clean up and besides, we are used to it. However, there are people or places in the world that is not practicing it and they woulld rather prefer toilet papers and I respect them tho. Thanbks for the response.

I use toilet paper of course. I live in america and washing your butt with water just weird lol??? using your hands?? nasty.... I have seen toilets at the korean places and they have autotoilet things lol. The toilets wash your butt for you. Its like a fountain and it sprays your butt clean. I have never tried it so I am not sure how clean it works. Its for lazy people, or old people that cant seem to do it themselves. I dont recommend anyone using this but its funny to look at.

Well yes I know most people her ein the USA uses toilet papers in wiping their butt after using the toilet bowls. We do also in the Philippines but most of us uses water because we find it more cleaner using water. Of course people will be washing their hands after using the bathroom as everybody does. Wow it's nice to have those fountain-like thing you said in washing the butt but I guess only rich people can afford it. It's not for lazy or old people; it's designed for a purpose and it's the custom there. Thanks for the reply.

I use toilet paper. Where I live we don't use those things where they clean your butt. Although I have found them interesting, and it would probably save a lot of waste, and on toilet paper.

Exactly, water cleans everything that's why it's very convenient to use. And one thing, it is not good for those having hemoroidsas it might complicate the condition. Water is the best. Thanbks for the response.

Since I have never really been out of the United States except for a 2 hour stint in Canada, I have never had the opportunity to use water. So I guess I prefer toilet paper, I would think the water would have to be very powerful to really clean everything up down there. I would probably want to wipe after the water. But I have never really experienced it so I can't really say I might like the water, who knows. I think it would take a great deal of getting used to though.

Yes I know that since my stay here I've been using toilet papera almost every time except just sometimes when I missed my practice of using waters as what I've used to do before. There are really different practices from different p;aces and cultures even in the most simple routinary thing. Thanks for the response.
