In the Philippines, traffic problem have reached serious part especially in highly urbanized places. Some of the reasons are inadequate sidewalk, lack of proper mode of public transport, some roadways are used as carparks and lack of discipline.
How does you country handle traffic problems? What are the actions taken by the government to solve this problem?

Hello There! Good Afternoon.
Yeah, traffic really upsets me especially when I know that I should not be late for work since I left really early in the morning. I am working in Makati, Philippines and teh traffic is so terrible especially in the afternoon when I take the bus, that is why, I prefer MRT since my log-out is earlier than any other offices which means that it is not that crowded in the MRT station. However, I sometimes prefer bus when I know that it is rush hour because I don't want to push my way through in the train station. It is just that heavy traffic would really make me impatient at times.
Most of the buses here in the Philippines would really stop in some bus stop to wait for other passengers to get in... Or too much vehicles like cars buses and cabs are in the road... too crowded for a not so big highway.
Thank you for the discussion. Happy Mylotting and Have a great day! Cheers!

Traffic is really a problem in Manila. That's one of the reasons why I don't want to work there. Laughing out loud! I grew up in a laid-back place, so I'm not used to traffic. Traffic really stressed me out. Good thing, you can manage all these stresses. Have a great day!

I dislike traffic. In my own city it isn't really ever that bad plus it helps that I know where I am going. I really hate going to the big cities where traffic can really get backed up and going even short distances turns into an hour in the car. Plus in those places you always have the people that drive all crazy and if you do not know exactly where you are going it can really get frustrating being in the wrong lane or missing a turn.

Yes traffic problems upset me. In India, it has become a night mare for the road users.Traffic laws are just eye wash here. Corrupt administration is the cause for traffic violations.

That is so disappointing! Trafic laws should be strictly implemented. I hope, we will all be disciplined in following traffic rules. And the enforcers should also have respect for themselves and their profession. They should not be bribe by the violators and should stand up for what is right.

Here in Bangalore also there is a huge traffic. We are having 8 lanes roads. Still on morning times there will be huge traffic. From my room office is just 6 kilometers away. Still on morning times, due to traffic it takes around 30 min to reach office. The fresh mood turns into bad mood because of traffic.
This is happening because, the buses and auto rickshaw are parking in the middle of the roads. Lack of lane discipline. Only way i have over come from this is to i have requested my shift to change to second shift. Now i am happy.

Thanks for sharing. Eight-lane road, that's wide but it won't be able to serve its purpose if the sidemost lanes are used as parking area. Traffic enforcers should be strict that parking on a highway is a big "No". In the Philippines, traffic is really heavy especially during rush-hour. I'm blessed that I live near my workplace. It is only two to three minutes ride.

Hi siomaiii,
Traffic generally bothers me because it makes me nervous. I don't experience a lot of traffic where I live, but I've traveled to places where I would rather walk or ride with someone I know. Most of the time I don't like to walk either. We don't have public transport here in such a small town. Our cities do though!

Virginia, US is making so many advancements for public transportation and doing a great job at getting the community riding bikes and walking/running. So lately, traffic hasn't been too much of a problem!

I also came from in the Philippines and the traffic here in out place is super annoying because even I always go to 2 hours before my class but because of traffic i become late. Hope our government can do something about thing problem because from the start this is one of the largest problem of our country in our roads. I hope our traffic enforcer do their best to minimize the traffic.
