God has made everything in pairs so there'll be multiplication. Flowering plants of the same species do have genders and to differentiate the male and female is through the flowers. It can either be the colour or the size of the flowers. Like fruits it is normally the size or pattern of the skin that makes the difference.

yes i knew about this a few years back. i still remember from that day onwards, i always go to the fruit market & say to the seller, "please give me some female's (fruit name) because the male ones taste bad." until today i still do the same so i always eat good taste fruits.
am i serious?? nah! LOL!

I didn't know it until I have read this discussion of yours then I think.
Its true I think as there are male and female flowers, flowers bloom first before a fruit. Fruits can't multiply or reproduce if there are no male and female so its like humans and animals. Its realy interesting.

Of course they do. Other wise, how would they be able to reproduce?
The components to life is all about male and female. They may not look the same when compared to animals or humans, but the male and female components are all there.
And yes, female fruits supposedly taste better than male ones. And for some fruits, the male ones are more vibrant in colors.

hi youless! I remember when I was still in school, we studied that the trees are the ones that are considered as male and female. Such as the papaya trees, the male tree can't produce fruits but is needed to pollinate the female papaya tree so it can bear fruits. I just don't remember that the fruits themselves have genders, I guess, I have missed that out in school. lol..
take care and have a great day!

And how to know which is the male one and which is the female one? Well htat info you did'nt provide.
I think males would like to eat female fruits and females would male fruit.
Hmm, seems that a couple gets another factor to have a fight with each other! LOL

Wow it's sure true that you learn something new every day and Mylot is a great place isn't it for learning new stuff. I wonder how you can tell the difference LOL, if you look at a banana for example how the hell do you tell if it's female or male, there are no nobbly bits are there or if one looks like it's moody or lazy it's male PMSL. You sure made me smile my friend!

I find that to be bizarre and cool at same time. Who would have guessed? And beyond that who would think to study fruit to see if there were sexes among them? I too will be learning the difference since I do love when fruit has great flavor.
Not as easy to find tasty fruit these days...Mamablaze

i have seen in one website that Fruits are female. Vegetables are male ,but u are telling in fruits only there are 2 genders.
i have seen one article in one website :
Local vendors in Tiexi District of Shenyang, Liaoning, starting selling fruit “by gender” at the market, charging more for “male” fruits such as tangerines, watermelons, apples, pears, strawberries and tomatoes.
They would not say what makes some fruit “male” and others “female”, which prompted local officials to step in and stop the practice. They advised consumers not to be fooled by such a sales promotion.
buti don;t know that there are genders in fruits.
