According to a news from Philstar datet February 3, 2009, a penumbral eclipse of the Moon will occur on February said Pagasa. This is the second of the six eclipse events this year. The state weather agency stated that the lunar surface is not completely shadowed by the Earth's umbra (darkest part of a shadow). Instead, observers see only the slightest dimming near the lunar limb closest to the umbra. The eclipse mat be undetectable unless at least half of the moon enters the penumbra. On February 9 at 8:36 in the evening, let's all go out and experience the penumbral ecclipse!

That would be interesting to witness then. Just hope that it would not be cloudy at that time so that we could all witness all these rare lunar event.

I know eclipses happen but a lot of old people think this is an omen. There are a lot of superstitious beliefs associated with this.
