i would rate Saurav Ganguly as the best, he had madde the team from a turmoil and draught of good players, he had enough toughness and flexibility to take on any team and play new comers, we should give entire credit of young brigade to Ganguly...You have Sehvag, Yuvraj, Kaif, Dinesh, Pathan and a lot of young bloods just because of him.
He has certainly given a shape tp Indian cricket which was needed and he fought braveheartly on all occasions, he was a lion, a tiger, a great prince and captain...a don...speechless about him

Indian cricket has seen many Leaders. The present may seem the best we got and support but dont forget the past when Cricket was evolving and India were underdogs in every tournament until Kapil Dev Lifted the trophy. India are still never favourites in the start of any tournament, they are always promising and competitive to an extent. The bowling has been the weak link ever since, cannot remember a Indian tearaway quick who blow away opposition or top class bowler, the day that comes Indian captian at the helm will be the best ever. For Now its Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni.

Definitely Saurav Ganguly. Now close on his heels is Mahendra singh dhoni. If Dhoni maintains the present temperament and shrewd tactics, in no time he will carve a niche for himself as the best captain of Indian cricket team.

According to me it is sourav ganguly.. Nobody can forget the 2003 world cup when India came back strongly from a disastrous first round defeat against Australia to qualify to the finals under his captaincy.. Also India started winning many test matches abroad under him only.. He is responsible for bringing players like yuvraj and harbajan into the team.. Although Dhoni is doing well now he has still lot to prove.
