You actually answered the major part of your question with the words OTHER THAN HIS SKIN COLOR, because debshie that is the first and most obvious thing that makes him different from any of the other forty three men who have been presidents of the USA, in the same way that if Hilary Clinton had beaten him for the Democratic nomination, she would have had a good chance of becoming the first woman president! Second point? you ask what made him so famous, and to really understand that, you will have to spend some time on web sites reading the history of the Civil Rights Movement in the USA. While you're doing that you will be able to read the world famous speech by Martin Luther King Junior in which he said he had climbed to the top of the mountain and seen the other side. To many people throughout the world, the fact that a black man had the chance to become president and fulfill that DREAM of Martin Luther King Junior had far greater significance than the fact itself, and people rseponded to the man even more. Your research will also show that Barack Obama the man has impressed people with his charisma, intelligence and that special knack of commanding the stage without seeming to make a big deal out of his ability to link with people. He has achieved a lot in a relatively short space of time, but the amazing thing has been his appeal to the WORLD, black, brown and white. Cometh the moment, cometh the man.

It is pretty obvious, Obama is the by-product of the rivalry between the Clintons and the Kennedys in the Democratic Party. The Clintons needed to be stopped by the Kennedys and Obama proved to be an effective roadblock to the Clinton Dynasty. Cheers!!

Apparently Obama's success means a lot to the world,I always heard that the chances in the United States are equal for everyone,no matter he is rich or poor, powerful or the oppisite, they said it's a land of opportunities, everyone could have his dreams come true through his own effort.Obama's success just proves that, that's why people all over the world pays special attention to him
