World War II - Are you been their?

Recently I'm watching some previews of the World war II videos and i have a lot of questions about it... Of course I'm not around that day but maybe my grandparents do. Upon watching, my mind don't stop thinking on how they survive in that kind of situation? Is it all people on that time carry some weapons for protection considered the civilians not only the soldiers? How's life on that time? Are you shivering when you heard some noise of explosions etc..? Maybe some out there have their own experience or heard stories of it...

I don't think those people that have survived that war wanna talk about it anymore. I guess it's just me. Well, it really is scary to live at a time like that but I guess we'll learn to adapt quickly because it's in our blood.
