Are there still mothers out there who wish to stay at home with the kids and do not wish to have another career? I'm like that but find that these days, you cannot survive comfortably on one salary, especially with kids.

I am also a stay at home mother. I had all the plans to go back to work after we had our now 3 1/2 yr old. After my maternity leave was up we had decided I would stay home, as we didn't want someone else raising our child. Our eldest (my step daughter) was in daycare from 6mths up even when her mother didn't work or only part time.
For the last 2 1/2 years I have been also working from home doing customer service work. I wouldn't change it for anything. I can bring in a decent income working after the girls have gone to bed and still be here for them and enjoy everything they do.
I could not imagine working at my old job 60/hr week 2 hour commute, and paying someone to raise my child so i could make an income, just the savings of no daycare is benefit enough to stay home. But to see them grow and become their own persons is wonderful.
I wish my husband could share in this, we are working towards him working less as he is still at the place where I left working the long hours, I feel for him and the lack of time with the girls, but the time he has he makes it very worth while.

I work at home so I can be home with the kids. We wouldn't be able to survive on one salary, so when I had my first child we decided that I would stay home and raise him. I decided to open a home daycare so I could still bring in an income and be there for my children. I have been doing this for 17 yrs now and it works great for my family.

I work part time in the mornings. I still get to see my son in the afternoons and i am off on weekends so more time with him. I hate it though. I wish i could stay home with him. I wish i could do some of the things other stay at home moms do. If my fiance hadn't lost his job i probaly could be staying at home with my little man.

We might love to sit at home and look after the children when they are small. But when they grow up and become independent we might yearn to do something...may be juz go out of the house and earn.Sometimes the job we desire will not be available to us then becoz may be we will be overage to qualify for them. Also in the modern times it sometimes becomes rather difficult to make both ends meet with just one persons income. But if we plan things carefully we will be able to enjoy both...a great career and quality time with kids.

Currently I am a tay at home mom. We are doing OK on just my husbands aincome, but I am trying to start earning some via internet. I have also started to babysit to supplement as we are hoping to move into a larger house soon and will need a little more coming in. I don't know about surviving comfortably, but we make it.

I love being at home.
Kids need their Mum's when they are young! Not a nanny but yes time's are tough but childhood is short compared to the rest of life - so I think Mum's should make the most of it.
I work but from home so I can do both. I started with a party plan company - it's great. I'm only out 2 nights a week and make about £500 a month. My youngest is a boy and they defo need their Mum's....lol
