Should they change the law in not using the cell phone while driving?

In my opinion, I think they should because its been causing many accidents. People make it so difficult in their life and let me say something we've got a bigger brain than pets which are way smarter than human beings. Okay you tell the dog dont do this and they wont do it. You tell a girl or a guy dont drive while you using your cell phone the first thing they do...what happens they hit another car, accident or something else in which they are holding the rest of the people that are driving. Just pull over in a parking lot, talk if its so important and if its not then keep driving until you get home or wherever your heading to return the call and so simple as that. What do you all think...

It's against the law here in Italy to use a cellphone while driving. It's been law for quite some time now. I think it's just so dangerous to drive and be on the phone too. If my phone rings while I'm driving I usually pull over at the first available place and see who it was that called and if neceessary I phone back immediately. Otherwise I wait until I get home.

Yes there is also the rule about no drink and driving and many accidents are caused here too by people not observing that one. Somany lives, especially at weekends, wasted through the stupidity of others

msdianait - Oh that's pretty awesome that you live in Italy. Well you sure live in a different country. It sure its a good thing that you already have the new law. Yes, we have tons of accidents they are being more strick but either way many wont still follow the law. For an example, many dont follow the law and rule of no drink and drive but they still drive. You are a very smart person to pull over to take the call or wait till you get home. Your safe and no cause of accident. Good job!

That law is applicable in my state as well. And within city limits - surprise, surprise - people follow it. Well, except those crazy private bus drivers, almost everyone pulls up or slows down to a crawl when answering their mobs.
My parents too are peculiar about this -even though i doubt anyone was ever fined for talking and driving - mainly for safety measures.
Talking about mobs - its easy to get past police people in my country. Most people have tinted windows in their cars, which makes the inside invisible or black. On motorcycles, many use the earphones and talk away when travelling long distances.
Forget mobs, they listen to music when driving up hair-pin curves on 2-wheelers!
Driving alone is boring, i guess.
Happy mylotting.

Cambiste - True. Some people want to be cautious and safe. Others are crazy and when something bad happens to them. Some stop doing it and the rest keep doing it. People can't get stop well only if they get them in jail and learn a lesson. Yes, many have tinted windows too but here in Texas we can't have it too extreme. If the cop can't see your face they will automatically remove your car from you not sure about your license though um.... also give you a ticket and you will never get your vehicle back. About the music well if you can handle loud music and driving you should be okay but on the same time you have to be alert with the ambulance and cops or your in trouble with the law.

I think there are some places that it is illegal to drive while on the phone. I have told my boyfriend that I will not talk to him when I am driving. I wait until I get home to check my cell phone to see if I had a call or a text message. It really bothers me when people texts while driving to. I think that is more dangerous.

It is the law in NYState. YOu will get a $50 ticket if you are caught driving while talking on your cell phone. And even the people who work the toll booths on the thruway are able to give out these tickets.
It doesn't stop people from talking on the phone while driving though.

Oh wow! I didn't know well there thinking about it here in my hometown plus I live in Texas. $50 kind of cheap but looks bad in a person's record though. I don't drive while using my cell phone. I guess they are kind of strick in all of that. Yeah true people dont care until it highers up the price and if they dont end up in jail then yeah they will keep doing it. They think they might change the law but I dont think so that sucks for you all that they already started.

I know a lot of people who drive while using the cell phone and it scares the heck out of me. There's no law against doing so where I'm from, but I beleive there should be. Especially for new drivers who are still getting used to operating a vehicle. That scares me a lot, too! I've been driving for nineteen years and I still pull over when I need to take a call.

Explorations - Yeah wouldnt blame you. People do drive crazy. Oh there might be a law soon... Dont worry you will be fine. Honk if you have too just for them to be alert. That's good that you still pull over just to make a call. Wow! In shock in someone still doing it so.

I don't really believe in these types of safety laws (too nanny statist), but if someone does cause an accident because they were using one at the time, they should REALLY be dealt with harshly.
