What is one name you would NOT name your child? I think I'd like to name my children that are original or some with names of my parents or grand parents. Why did you choose that name for your child?

I have a multi syllable last name so I chose a one syllable name for my child. I wouldn't want a name like Isabella or something long like that.

Yes, that would be a very long name! But then you can have fun with nicknames if they are really long.

I would hate my child to have a boring name like Frank or Jim.

Yeah, me too... like John or Tom... no offense but it's quite common.

i've always believed this, a child's name is a factor on how they're going to be like when they grow up. or the opportunities that will come their way. and lately i read about this study that so and so names have better opportunities than others. as i don't want to get into trouble with the names i have read that have low responses, names like elisabeth, meredith, charles have more opportunities that other names. i have a common name, and i would want to name my child with an unusual but beautiful name. people will readily remember them for one thing. cheers!

Wow, that's an interesting study, but very agreeable. I think names definitely represent you with who you are. In the eastern countries, they show a lot of representations depending on which characters you use for your names. Thanks for the input!

Most kids don't like to stand out from the crowd so I names my children with common names, I gave them special family middle names that they could choose or not to use.

Hey, that's a good idea. I like both of my names, which are both pretty different in my country.

the name that i WOULDN"T name my child is Manard. We actually named our son Sebastian. We happened to choose the name because it isn't a usual name in our area. Besides its a strong name and i love it just the sound of the name itself

Sebastian is a lovely name. Manard is an uncommon name around here... and it sounds pretty interesting to me. Does it have a meaning to it?

The name I would never have given either of my girls is Ethel. My eldest is named Georgia after seeing a map of USA & seeing the state Georgia. Our youngest is called Ava, I came accross this name through predictive text after mis spelling a word. It took 7 months for us to agree on a name!! If I had any boys I would not call them Phillip or John, just because they are popular.

Those are both pretty and unique names. Ethel reminds me of I Love Lucy Show.
