My little brother took his dog Coach to the vet today, and what we feared was actually true was. Coach is blind, his retina is completely detached and their is nothing they can do about it. He also has a disease in his eyes which causes them to bulge, if it gets way bad or if he starts clawing at them we'll have to have his EYES removed. The vet said as long he's eating and drinking and we love him Coach could live for a long long time even without his sight

That is so sad for Coach but at the same time he is lucky to be in a family that loves him and will look after him in his time to come. You do not mention how old he is and I wonder if that could make a difference. If he is an old dog did it come with old age. Or is he young? I had a cat who was blinded in only one eye by the vet when she was a tiny kitten. She lived to be almost eighteen and seemed to have no problems with the fact that she only had one. Her other senses were working overtime I guess. I hope Coach will adjust despite his problem but I'm sure his family will look after him and love him just the way he is and help him get the best out of his days. Good luck!

He's seven, which isn't really that old. The vet said if we take good care of him he could live for a long time.

He seems happy now, when we first noticed something was wrong he acted depressed head down, tail tucked. But now he laughs, you know like dogs do running his tounge out and looking happy. He actually plays with our other dog again. And get this Sammy is more careful with him. Do you think she knows?
