When I on a holiday. it is really boring and frustrating to receive a work phone. I want to turn my cell phone off, but I also afraid of missing important calls. So it is really incompatible for me. How about you? Do you turn off your cell phone while on holidays?

If you are on a planned holiday from work... i.e., you requested and received permission for the time off for specific dates... then you are not under any obligation to answer phone calls. I have answered my phone for work-related calls on holiday, once in awhile, but it was done as a courtesy because I was free at the time and thought, "oh well, why not." I felt no obligation to answer, though. If they know you will be away, they have adequate time to arrange for things to be done in your absence - by a person who should be qualified to handle most or all of what you normally do. Don't feel bad - just turn off your phone and enjoy your holiday :) Everyone needs a break and some rest and relaxation to be re-energized and to continue doing a good job when they return!

In my opinion, whether to turn off the cell phone or not is up to you! Since you are on a holiday, you don't have the obligation to answer the phone call. As far as I'm concerned, I would like to leave my cell phone switched on when I was on a holiday. My colleague would not call me during holidays unless there is something urgent. Have a nice day!

well there are times when we are in holidays and we do not want to get disturbed. at those times we get work related calls and certainly this annoys you. but i think that cell phones are extremely essential. at times they can save lives and certainly they come handy when you are in some sort of emergencies. well there might even be situations when you have problems around you whom you love and whom you would certainly like to help if they are in any sort of danger. so i think that the mobile phones must not be completely discarded at any case.

obviously that would bother your own time, especially the work phone.you would feel so bad after the call is ended, the whole plan would be stopped by some urgent things and you have not other mood to enjoy the rest time. but i never turn off my phone for i know there must be sth would happen, and i don`t want to lose any phone, cos each call is useful for me and i never have other bored calls. only the sleeping time the phone would be turned off:)
