I do love tennis. I watch matches and try to play tennis. I want to learn to play it. I have tried several times, but could not get to the point. I wonder if we can learn tennis by ourselves just by watching matches?

I took an initial lesson in tennis just for fun, they have certain timing and postures that you have to take before you actualy hit the ball. You even have to sort of twist the racket before you step forward and hit that ball. The racket is kinda heavy and there is a certain amount of impact you have to make so that the ball will return to the other side. I think if you don't have the proper posture, you can get injured. I guess after learning the basics, you can practice even without someone to play with because of the ball throwing machine.

I couldn't find anyone to play tennis with me. I know it's because they are scared of my awesome skills. Instead of being discouraged and letting others ruin my good fun, I learned how to play Tetherball. It's most fun to play Tetherball with another person, but I learned to develop my awesome skills by playing alone. You should try it if you haven't already.

yes we can, if you need to be a pro you would need a coach though, but then roger federer is doing well without any coach !

I do think that we can learn tennis by ourself by watching some matches or recorded videos. You'd better find a parter test all the skills to see the effect when competing with others. But I have to admit it is better to find a coach to make your skills to meet the standards.

I love tennis too. I watch matches also. I think if one knows to play Table-Tennis or Badminton then it is easy for that person to learn tennis. There are some machines also with the help of which you can learn it. If possible you can join some coaching classes for that. Best of Luck

You can most definitely learn how to play tennis by yourself, although, if you want to play at a good level or professional level you will absolutely need a coach, because you do need to learn to proper technique and the way you need to hold the raqcuet. It's good that you like watching tennis, you can learn a lot from it, especially how your body is supposed to rotate and where throw the ball to. I have been playing tennis for 8 years now, and of course I started with a coach but as I got better I decided to continue by myself. I already knew the basics but I needed much more imporvment and that came from practice with other tennis players. I will advice you to get a coach for the first year or so and if you feel confident enough to go for it by yourself then do it, there is nothing stopping you! Have a good day, cheers :)

you could try to imitate how the players play by watching the matches but once you get yourself a coach or a trainor, you will see the difference. I hired myself a coach to teach me the basics and there are lots of techniques that I've learned which I would not know if I would just try learning by watching. if you really want to learn, hire a coach to teach you the basics. anyways, the basic is the most important then you can improve from there.
