Online Encyclopedia or Printed Encyclopedia?

Do people still read or turn to the printed encyclopedia for information when there is the internet? I think the internet is a better research tool where information is updated more often than the printed encyclopedia. Another thing, a laptop or PC occupies much less space than a bookcase. What do you think?

I like printed encyclopedia however I find the online encyclopedia is easier to use. Aside from that, if your printed encyclopedia is old you will need to buy for a new one to get for updated versions. For online, it will be easy for the writers to edit it online.

May I know why you like printed encyclopedia? I remember I used to love reading our encyclopedia at my father's house.

I like printed one because you can scan on all the pages, you can also check for the references of the authors, and pictures as well if there's any.

Ya i too think that an online encyclopedia is a better option. But you know what there is a different feel reading a book. It feels much better when i collect information from a traditional printed encyclopedia writing important points on paper and compiling something rather than just copying and pasting from an online version. It feels that i've taken more efforts and i deserve the fruit... And yes what you say is true too. Online encyclopedia is updated, not only that but you get to read other people's comments on that topic too. Well compare apples with apples...

I would research online as it is pretty convenient and what you get from the net is almost the same if not even better information than the written one. It depends on how long is your written encyclopedia that you have.

Thank you for responding, rsa101. I agree that the net, with its wealth of updated information, is indeed a good research tool.
