Warning to Internet users!

I had been keeping a diary since the year 2003. I recently changed my computer, so I organized all the files by year, month and eventually by day. I put my diary online, thinking that having it on the Internet would be safe, but how wrong I was! I mistakenly deleted all my more than 2,000 journal files, so now I only have those for Feb 09 and a few months of 08 that I was able to rescue, as those had been online before I changed to the new system. I have now learned that one must keep back up files regardless of whether one uses the Internet or not! It was all my fault, but it hurts, as it is as if a part of my life had just disappeared into thin air!

I have always made it a habit to back up on disc or dvd any files or pics that I don't want lost. As you found out, they can disappear off the net and if your pc crashes you can lose everything there as well. Sorry to hear about your loss. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Oh my gosh I feel so sorry for you! I've had my internet accounts hacked AND deleted all in one day and I was crying the entire time. Backing up files are really very important--not only for the ones online, but also the ones in the computer, I mean like Word Documents and all. I have a thing for making computers crash, so I know how essential that part is for me. I delete my online diaries--whenever there are parts of my life that have caused me a lot of trauma and I'm not ready to look back at them for now.
