I was in a check out line and I saw a woman with lobster stuffed ravioli.

Now that is a kind I've never had. I've had beef, pork sausage, mushroom, and cheese. Brings back memories. My Mom would buy one package of beef and one of cheese. Cook them and mix them. Or one of beef and one of pork. Then mix them. You never knew what kind you had until you bit into it. If you made your own, you could stuff them with anything! When you mix kinds like that, it's like a surprise in every bite. My Mom (bless her departed soul) was great at making food fun. There was a time when ravioli was 99 cents a package and two packages fed our family. Just added a 99 cent sauce. 6 people for 3$. That plus a salad and we had a meal. So what kinds of ravioli have you had? If you could make your own, what would you stuff them with? What kinds would you like to try? Would you like to mix them like my Mom did to make a "Pillow food surprize?" All ideas ravioli welcome.

I would prefer to stuff any ravioli that I make with beef. I have eaten cheese filled ravioli and don't like it. Pork filled is ok but I prefer beef. My husband won't eat it so there is no point in making ravioli for dinner. He will eat spaghetti or any dish made with chicken. He might like ravioli filled with chicken so that might be something I could try to make. Don't know that I've seen in in the stores but haven't looked very hard either..lol Lobster stuffed ravioli sounds very interesting. I'd like to try this at some point.

I had never heard of Lobster stuffed before. I wonder if there is a chicken one. Don't know why there wouldn't be.

I would definitely buy lobster stuffed ravioli just to see if I like it. My husband won't eat it. He won't eat anything that comes from the ocean or river. He's just not a fish eater.

My husband wasn't either, but thankfully his family at least fed him tuna from a can. We also have an area sea food place that serves the best pot roast. So I would go there with him. He would get pot roast and I would get fish. Once in awhile he would get curious and I would give him a bite of something I had. One day he actually ordered fish! Another time he ordered a sea food platter! It took a long time for him to develop a taste for it since he didn't grow up with it, but once in a while we have fish now.

back before my allergies got so bad, i used to eat chef boyardi (sp?) and had beef ravioli, now i sometimes get cheese at Olive Garden - with alfredo sauce Mac Grill has lobster ravioli, never tried it, not that fond of lobster... actually, not a lobster fan at all....

I'm kind of steering away from shellfish, last time I ate some I didn't have a problem, but the previous 2 times.... well it was quite a while ago...

Yeah, I don't go crazy over lobster either. Now if it was crab, shrimp, or scallops, I would have gotten out of line and bought some myself.

I truly prefer "perogies" as I can put much more flavourful stuffing in them! One of my neighbours was a Ukrainian Lady...and she made the best perogies in the world! So I offered to help with prep..if she would share her recipes. What a score...let your imagination run wild...even fruit stuffed perogies...but my favourite will always be; mashed potato, cheddar cheese & bacon...gotta top them with more chopped fried bacon, onions and sour cream! Yum! Now, you've conjured up a taste I am longing for? Cheers!

Sure did manage to screw up that discussion, didn't I? How did I turn ravioli into perogies....but there is absolutely nothing you can conjure up, that you can't stuff perogies with...as I said before, even fruit! And yes, your Lobster would be good in them...as I put crab, cream cheese and mashed potatoes in them! I can, if you like send you a recipe for the casing...and then fill to your heart's delight! Yummy!

I would like to taste a real perogie. The ones here are nasty. Just taste like potatos and flour. I would have never guessed that you could put more stuff in them. Cheddar cheese and bacon sound devine. I was thinking of making fish chowder that would include those ingredients, too. But I don't know if I'll do that tonight or wait for another day. People from the Old Countries make such marvelous food, what a find to have that lady teach you! How wonderful!

Dear writersedge, For me,ravioli is similar with the dumplings ,but different in shaping,sometimes the contains of the ravioli and dumplings are the same ,that's all depends on ourself.It is more common here in our country to cook ravioli with meet (noramlly we use the meet from the big rather than beef) and onion,sometimes may use beef or mushroom just as your Mom did ,I haven't ever tried to make ravioli with cheese.maybe I can let my mother have a try .. Sound interesting,hehe,here in china all the dumplings are made in the shape of the coin(in the old times)that's why in the first day of the new year we will eat dumplings which was thought will bring us the good fortune for the coming year (a kind of superstition but it seems a tradition here ,hehe)I can only see the "tangyuan" made in the round shape ..

I make typos, too, sometimes. Dumplings here, except Chinese, are solid balls of dough that cook up in sauce or gravy. Ravioli, you know. But the chinese dumplings are like ravioli, except usually cooked in broth. Onion sounds good, I'd like to try that.

Hey there. I've had Lobster-stuffed ravioli in one of our Italian restaurants down here and it was delicious! I also like Olive Garden's portobello mushroom-stuffed ravioli. Fantastic! Hmm, I sure love cheese, I think I'd do chopped mushroom and cheese in mine. Ooh, or maybe crab-stuffed ravioli. Now, that sounds good! Mixing various kinds together, why not?

As long as the cooking times are the same or if they aren't and you cook in separate water baths, what to heck? These were in little boxes and it was before the superbowl with all her other game stuff. Must be a superbowl treat! I think crab-stuffed would be terrific. Seafood of any kind, I would be up for it.
