Traditional food of your country!?

Latvian traditional food - A cold soup, pot cooked cabbage, a cotlette, a gjerkin, sour milk (kefir) and some Russian kvas.

How would you describe the cuisine of your country to someone who had never tasted it? In Latvia we eat heavy food - potatoes, wheat, barley, cabbage, onions, eggs, and pork. Latvian food is generally quite fatty, and uses few spices. A typical example would be boiled gray peas with pieces of bacon. A traditional Latvian cheese is Kimenu siers (caraway cheese); Other dishes are borshch (beet soup), rasols (potato salad), and sauerkraut. Popular drinks are beer, vodka, and balzam.

Hello! Latvian food sound great. I think I'll try it as soon as I can. About your question, I live in Mexico. I think our traditional landmark are tortillas, beans and chili. You can see them in almost every traditional dish. One that most people like is "mole". There are many kinds of it, but all of them consist basically in spicy sauces with some meat (chicken or turkey most of the times). The "mole poblano" has seven different kind of chili and includes chocolate and sesame. Funny, it's not that hot, maybe due to the chocolate. It goes great with rice -and tortillas, of course. But in other regions of the country mole and corn tortillas are not a must. For example, in the north of Mexico, they eat a lot of meat and wheat tortillas -and not so many chili. n he south, they prefer sweeter flavors, like "lime soup", which is just delicious :) Now I'm hungry!

I am from the Philippines and we eat a lot of rice almost in every meal and just have it with any dish we made like, meat, seafood or vegetables. But I think our traditional food is Adobo (chicken or pork, sometimes both) that cooks in onion, garlic, bay leaf, soy sauce and vinegar. We have different version of cooking this form different states, some people would put, potato, tomato and coconut milk.

I eat it all LOL! I would think though a hamburger and french fries. I really don't know to tell you the truth. In our state I know that crawfish and gumbo would be the traditional food of Louisiana.
