hey there....well we all have this habit to some extent....the hotels etc are getting just too costly....well why not retrace some part of it....just for this reason small things are picked from hotel rooms at the time of checking out....and according to me this is absolutely fair....the hotels make a lot of profit from our hard earned money....so just take a part of it back....simple..

I don't normally take them, but I do sometimes and then take them down to the nursing home. I collect them and then at christmas or so take down so the elderly in those homes can have shampoo and conditioner that they don't have to buy or their families don't have to buy.

Yes, I take the left overs, and they serve well for cleaning clothes at least. At home, I usually use what I bought. My husband always oppose my taking back all these stuff, and my answer was as yours. Why not?
But we need to take care that a lot placed in the hotel room are on charge, for instances, the beverages in the minibar.

I do out of habit but I do not always use them. When I was in NJ, my sister-in-law found a charity that was asking for them as they distribute them to the poor. She travels a lot so it made a lot of sense. In that case, why not!

I agree that you have paid for those shampoos and soaps so I don't really see any reason not to take them. Personally I don't, as I use my own shampoos and soaps when I am away from home and I happen to like the ones I use, But, if I didn't have my own and I opened the little bottles from the hotel then I would take them when I leave. ;)

Oh yes, I love taking those, as many times one discovers good brands! I also like to take the notepads they usually put in the night tables! I am addicted to them actually!

Sometimes I would but usually I wouldn't. It would depend on my mood - or finances!!! Now, I don't because I only use a natural/chemical free shampoo and conditioner.

I don't but my wife does. They are not free believe me, you are paying for them, you are probably even paying a huge mark up on them. You might as well take them because you have paid for them. If you don't like to use them give them a to a family that is less fortunate.

I like to collect these bottles, sometimes they come in are very nicely designs and colors. I don't like the contents though - usually empty them out, wash and dry them for my collection.

Hi Lindery, I don't take the shampoo and conditioner bottles from hotel, I always brought my own shampoo and conditioner, hotel's shampoo not suitable for me, and I don't use it.

Currently,I found that the quality of shampoo and soap are not very good. There is no effective to use it. But in other ways,if you like the it,you can take it in your pleasure.Do not be shy for it,that is your right, you have paymented for it .So,in my opinion,do which I want to do~~

I usually take the shampoo and conditioner bottles, but not to use them - usually I just keep them as souvineers, or keep them for next time I travel (such as for when I go camping or something like that!). I haven't really found a "decent" shampoo or conditioner either, but I like how it says the hotels name. It's like buying a postcard, without being able to write on it! :]
I feel it's a little extreme otherwise. I know relatives and friends who are adamant about taking EVERYTHING that they can: coffee, coffee filters, shampoos/conditioners, toilet paper, and so on. It definitely works if you're trying to be frugal, but for some reason it feels to me like stealing.

Hi Lindery! Whenever we travel and stayed in a hotel, I always take my own shampoo and conditioner, because I don't really like the conditioner from the hotel! But yes I always take the shampoo, conditioner and even the moisturizer from the hotel, I don't have to use them but I can give them with someone else. I agree with you, we pay for these extras so why leave them.

If they are from at least three-star hotels, I would take them. I also take the small plastic combs and the toothbrushes...anything that is free/complimentary.

I haven't found a shampoo or conditioner in a motel that is decent. Most of it feels nasty after I've washed and I don't want to take it home. I did go buy small plastic travel containers so I can take my own shampoo and conditioner and not have to worry about it.
They are typically included in the room and they don't cost enough to warrant taking them for me.
