How to get a new friend?

Well,hey everyone.I'm a new student here,I found it's a little hard to find friends in my life. I guess some reason is about my English~Cause it's not my mother language,and my English is still on the way~ That's must be the most important problem.But I want to learn about Canada more.So~guys,how do you usually make the new friends?
