I started brushing my sons teeth at three months. I am real paranoid about the health of teeth. Plus the dentist started giving me all kinds of information before he was born. They sell these thumb tooth brushes at a baby store or sometimes walmart carries them.

I introduced a tooth brush at six months old when my son began to be introduced to solid food. He didn't like minty toothpaste so I bought some orange toothpaste from a posh natural baby shop near where I live. It is costs over £3 but at least my son tolerates it. He is now 20 months old and doesn't like his teeth being brushed but it is a must. He has lots of teeth now and he will soon take a trip to meet the dentist.

I used a gum wipe (it was a finger thing that looked like a mini-wash cloth) from day one, and then I started using a toothbrush as soon as the first tooth poked through (in addition to the gum wipe). That way, the kids would always be used to having their mouth clean following meals.
