Are you as tire of The Phelp's story as I? I don't care that he tried pot at a party. But then again I am not a child and Michael Phelps isn't my hero. And Thankfully I am not an athlete. I understand that to make the huge bucks you have to be a role model and a person kids can look up to. But these days this means you have to be a saint. A saint that never goes out or drives. If I were an athlete I wouldn't want to be a superstar. The money isn't worth the lack of freedom.I loved it when Bartley said "I am not a role model."That has always been my view. But then again when I was a kid I didn't look up to any athlete. What's your view?

As far as I'm concerned he took a bong hit. Big deal. Pot should be legal. Just my opinion.

In fact I expect that the celebrity will give us a good example. I know nobody can be perfect. But due to their fame, we tend to think so. As to Michael Phelps, he is really one of the best swimmers and I still remember his brilliant achievement in the Olympics last year. There is a negative news about him lately and I think it can be understanding. He is young and he is so famous and wealthy. It's likely he will take a risk. I heard that there is a famous ping pong athlete who bit others when he was drunk. Frankly, I was in shock to here that as I have never thought that such an athlete would do such a terrible thing. His fame just dropped after that. I love China

It is sad that these fine athletes are hounded by the press. I can see wanting to follow them During The Olympics but off season? Why?

He is human. And all the hard work he did to win all his metals should be just discarded because he tried pot at a party...we have had several other people do alot worse stuff and they are supposed to be role models...like some of our ex presidents....and more recently all the picks Obama has tried for his cabinet that haven't paid their taxes....they are supposed to be role models too. I really didn't have an athlete either as a role model..

Exactly. These days it seems as soon as a person is raised , there are ones trying to tear them down.

Hi, personally I do not care but if I was him I would be disturbed at the person who "probably" sold that picture and intruded on my personal time.
