I would buy it in an instant. In running condition that bike is worth at least $1000, mint would be around $2500. The repairs you could do yourself if you're mechanically inclined, and would be about $300. It may be a peice of junk right now, but it is a good bike if you know how to ride a trike. I have a '83 atc 250r and have owned it for 10 years and will never sell it. Although parts may be hard to find. Do some research on the motor parts, the others you can get at your local bike shop.

As long as you can repair it yourself then it would be a good deal.

Unless you can do all the work yourself don't buy it. Yes it is a piece of junk. If it needs all those things how can it be running? It would be better to buy a bike that doesn't need so much work. When I bought my bike all it needed was steering bearings. They were a bit worn out, but other than that it ran perfectly. I was riding about 5,000 miles a week and the bike had to go to the shop about once a month for maintenance.

There are plenty of 250's on the market. Look for on that doesn't need work. That bike he's selling is really old and not worth what he is asking. If it was in perfect shape, maybe, but a bike not needing major work.
Or ask you uncle to fix everything first and then buy it. When I was looking for my bike, I found tons of 250's to chose from.
